Visits to VE, PE, Tafe & Husco cells

Our Training started with visiting various cells; starting with VE cell …we are documenting what we learnt at each of these cells.

1) VE CELL

The VE cell has Bosch as its customer, and the VE pump housing is machined here.

The VE pump is shown in below photograph:

The housing of this pump is machined at VE cell.

Lessons learnt

1) The process flow used in the manufacturing of VE pump housing

2) We were able to understand how the raw material moves from start to finish.

3) We were able to get information about the various tools used at different work stations for particular operations.

4) Able to see how the parts are loaded into machines and the able to get information about the CNC programs used.

5) Researched about the material used for the VE pump housing and came to know that its 6061 gr Aluminium.

6) We came to know that the threads for the holes in the VE pump housing are formed instead of machined (which involves removal of material) since Aluminium is a softer material.

7) We were able to appreciate the various Quality checks performed to ensure the quality at each and every level of operations.

8) Able to appreciate the tools used for machining operations

9) We learnt about the various quality and productivity management tools like Kaizen –used for problem solving by finding root cause 5S-- used to effectively to manage the house keeping inside the shop floor.

10) To summarize it was a great learning experience for us on the shop floors of M/s Shakthi precision components pvt ltd, we really appreciate it.
