Some about SILVASSA:
Silvassa is the capital of the Indian Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
During Portuguese rule, Silvassa was also known as Vila de Paço d'Arcos, after the town of the
same name near Lisbon (Paço de Arcos, Oeiras). The city has a large number of factories and
industries providing significant government revenue, which allows the city to maintain a low level
of taxation. The city is one of the hundred Indian cities competing in a national level competition
to get the funds under Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission. Silvassa will be competing
for the one of last 10 spots against 20 cities from across India.
Silvassa is a town on the Daman Ganga River in western India, bordering the state of
Gujarat. Formerly under Portuguese rule, it’s known for its varied tribal heritage, explored at
the Tribal Cultural Museum through objects like masks and musical instruments. Bal
Udyan Park has kids' play areas. Northwest in Dadra, Vanganga Lake Garden is a
Japanese-style island garden with boats for hire on the surrounding water.
HISTORY:Until the end of the 19th century, Silvassa was only a small village. The growing importance
of Silvassa started in 1885, when the Portuguese Administration decided to transfer the seat
of Nagar Haveli to the city, which until then had been in Darará. By decree of 11 February
1885, Silvassa was created as a town, with the name of Vila de Paço d'Arcos. However, the
original name prevailed and the town continued to be mainly known as Silvassa and referred to as
such in official documents.
INDUSTRIES:Far from being a tribal region, it has now developed into an industrial hub with major industrial
companies setting up manufacturing bases in the region. Its initial tax-free status granted by the
Indian government to boost industrial investment in the Union Territory of Dadra and
Nagar Haveli has contributed to the region's industrial growth.

B. Moulding
As the fresh dough like material is prepared & it is put in the big rectangular mould. Then
the mould which is filled with the material is kept in the Hydraulic Pressure Machine,
where pressure is applied from all the sides so that the voids and moisture gets easily
removed.
Afterwards it is taken out and the mould is kept as it is for nearly about 8-8.30 hours.
After that, hard block is removed from the mould and kept for 24 hours for the process of
Curing. (Exothermic Reaction Takes place)
C. The Gang Stone Machine
In this machine the cured block is kept and cutted into thin sheets which are of mainly
10mm, 12mm, and 16mm. One block makes 20 to 25 sheets which require 4 hours for
full cutting the big block of marble.
