Film Industry

The film industry comprises the technological and commercial institutions of filmmaking, i.e., film production companies, film studios, cinematography, film production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production, film festivals, distribution; and actors, film directors and other film crew personnel.

Though the expense involved in making movies almost immediately led film production to concentrate under the auspices of standing production companies, advances in affordable film making equipment, and expansion of opportunities to acquire investment capital from outside the film industry itself, have allowed independent film production to evolve.

Film industry is a multi million pound industry which includes creating films for everyone to enjoy and includes scripts, producers, distribution company, cinemas, agents etc.

20th Century Fox that are involved with films such as Home Alone, Predator, Speed, Independence Day , Avatar, The Simpsons Movie and even DreamWorks Animation with Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon.

Radio IndustryThe UK Radio Industry

The British radio market is split roughly 50/50 between stations owned and operated by the BBC and stations owned by commercial groups and licensed by Ofcom.

Most listening is via FM, but digital transmissions via DAB are growing in popularity and there is still some listening via AM frequencies (also known as medium and long wave).

In addition there are about 200 community stations, also licensed by Ofcom, and many student and hospital services. You can find out the latest updates on weather, music, news etc..

Audience FiguresAll sections of the industry recognise and support RAJAR (Radio Joint Audiences Research Ltd), which publishes quarterly listening figures at www.rajar.co.uk. Approximately 90%of UK residents listen to the radio at some time each week, that's 47.7 million people.

BBC Radio

BBC Radio is a service of the British Broadcasting Corporation which has operated in the UK under the terms of a Royal Charter since 1927.

The BBC is primarily funded by the TV licence fee, currently £145.50 a year (£12.13 a month), which is payable by everyone in the UK who watches television programming live. Commercial revenue and grants top up this figure to £4.6 billion a year. Of the monthly £12 it earns from each licence fee, the BBC spends £2 on radio.

The BBC runs ten national domestic radio stations, five of which are only available in a digital format.

Television Industry Television today is little changed from a decade ago and yet at the same time is profoundly

different. The ways in which we consume television have altered relatively little, but supply has evolved markedly.

What television islooks at the size and scope of the industry; tracking the flows of revenues going into, within and out of the TV sector; the growth of pay TV; the resilience of TV advertising and sponsorship; the case for channels in a digital world and the rise of the writer.

Key findings The UK television industry generated £17.5 billion in revenues in 2012, down half a billion

pounds from 2011. Pay TV has been the growth engine of the TV industry since 2007, adding £1.29 billion in

revenues over the six years to 2012. The UK devotes about a quarter of all waking time – four hours – to watching TV, yet total spend

on television is about 1% of GDP. TV advertising has held up despite the digital ad revolution: 52% of the UK public say TV adverts

have the most impact of any advertising format. 14% of consumers made a spur of the moment purchase after watching a TV programme or

advert, compared to coming across it in a store (23%) and a friend or family member recommending it (15%).

The industry can broadly be divided into those who work within an organisation and those who work for an agency where teams are appointed to provide specific services to paying clients. Both areas offer jobs in:

Press Freedom of the press or freedom of the media is the freedom of

communication and expression through mediums including various electronic media and published materials. While such freedom mostly implies the absence of interference from an overreaching state, its preservation may be sought through constitutional or other legal protections.

Games Design Industry The game industry is beginning to be one of the biggest industry's. With Psps and X box’s that are the most popular devices to play certain games.

Nowadays with phones and tablets  apps are even more popular. People can play these games everywhere without internet access and any specific connection. With most Apps being free this encourages people to play these games more.  Games on android tablet and app stores are suitable for all ages so this works out better for everybody.
