    1.1. Pre-Configuration Check List

    Prior to installing IMS and configuring your system, verify that you are using the minimum

    requirements listed below.

    Note: Please contact C-COM if you require more information about modem compatibility as these may change without further notice.

    Note: Installed Software and Controller Firmware versions MUST be identical for normal operation

    IP Address of Satellite Modem (if using Telnet Interface)

    Satellite Name and Coordinate, Dual Beam X5 modem will have minimum 2 Satellites.

    Determine if the Option File is loaded into the iDirect Satellite Modem, and is configured for

    Mobile Remote and not Stationary. If VLAN is also configured, you must use the Console Port Interface for communication between the iDirect Satellite Modem and the iNetVu 7000 Controller. Ensure the BUC, LNB, and Reflector Size and models are taken into consideration when generating the Option File at the NOC. Note: Typically, the Option File is pre-loaded by the service provider. Should the Option File require loading or checked, use the system tools; NetManager and/or iSite. Contact the NOC if you require checking the Option File settings or are unfamiliar with the use of these system tools.

    1.2. Determining IP Address of iDirect Satellite Modem If the IP Address of the iDirect Satellite Modem is unknown, you must use a console cable and a HyperTerminal Connection to locate it.

    1. Connect PC to iDirect Satellite Modem using a serial cable to the Console port

    2. Start a HyperTerminal connection at the following settings:

    Baud Rate: 9600 Data Bit: 8 Parity: None Stop Bit: 1 Flow Control: None

    Note: Occasionally, the Baud Rate may need to be lowered to 4800 bps.

    3. iNFINITI 3000 / 5000 / 7000 and Evolution X5 Satellite Router Users:

    There are two levels of access and before proceeding to Step 5, you need to log into the Satellite Router using the following sub-steps:

    I. Login with root and iDirect as the password. II. After successfully logging in, type telnet 0 to access the secondary login prompt. III. Proceed to Step 4.

    4. Enter the following as your Login and Password (case-sensitive):

    Login: admin Password: iDirect

    Note: Occasionally, the password may be P@55w0rd!

    5. Once successfully logged in, type laninfo to display the IP Address. Type beamselector list to display currently selected beam and the beams available on the modem.

    Note: The following diagrams are a general reference only. Most iDirect modems can communicate via the Console and Lan interface. An external splitter can be used in most scenarios. Please consult with your NOC or Service provider.

    1.7. Initial Controller Configuration and Verification with iDirect Once the system wiring is complete and the network configuration on your PC is configured, you are required to configure the system parameters for the following before satellite acquisition:

    Communication Method between IMS and iNetVu Controller. Satellite Name, Longitude, and Transmit Polarization Dual Beam ID Satellite Name and Longitude on X5 Evolution Modem/VSAT Communication Parameters

    The 7000 Controller may be configured via the Software Application / Web Interface / LCD interface. Only one is necessary for complete configuration.

    iNetVu 7000 Front Panel USB drivers must be installed for USB connection method. The configuration process is only required to be done once as long there are no change in satellite, service, modem, or platform parameters.

    1.8. Software Setup and Initial Configuration Procedure with iDirect Service

    1. If you are using the network interface to communicate with the 7000 Controller, set the PC/Notebook to the same network as the 7000 Controller. (If you are using the USB interface, you may skip to the Software Installation)

    2. Open Network and Sharing Center\Network Connections, right-click your network card, and select Properties.

    3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

    4. Select Use the following IP address.

    Set your PC to the same subnet as the 7000 Controller. IP Address: A.B.C.D+2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: A.B.C.D (Modem/Router IP) The Gateway is usually the Router IP address. If no router is used, it is usually the VSAT Modem IP Address. Set the DNS IP Addresses if required.

    5. Set the 7000 Controller to the same network as the PC and VSAT Modem.

    *Note: The controller IP should be set in the controller through the LCD interface prior to entering it into the software tool for proper PC to Controller Communication through network interface. (USB Interface users may skip this step) To Configure the IP address on the controller, you must navigate to the CONF2 menu using the LCD Interface. (Default password password)

    a. Navigate to the IP menu and press the ENTER button.

    b. Press the button to allow for modification on the C_IP field and set the IP address of the controller. For example, if the Modem/Router IP is 192.168.0.1 then the controller IP could be set to 192.168.0.2. Press the ENTER button once the change is complete.

    c. Press the Exit button twice to exit out of the configuration menu. When prompted if you would like to save configuration, press the button to select Y (yes) and press Enter.

    d. Click the reset button on the controller.

    You may view the 7000 Controller IP from the LCD interface via MONITOR IP (C_IP)

    1.9. Software Installation Please Note: Do not connect the Controller via USB until the drivers and software have been installed

    1. If you are installing from the USB flash drive or have downloaded from the C-COM FTP, run the iNetVuSetup.exe file.

    2. Click OK to continue. Administrator privileges are required

    Note: The Driver installation will be done in two stages. FTDI CDM Drivers and, USB Drivers.

    3. Continue thought the FTDI CDM Driver Installation Wizard.

    Click Extract

    Click Next Click Finish

    4. Continue through the USB Driver Installation Wizard.

    Click Next Click Finish

    5. Now continue through the iNetVu Software installation and close when complete. A new Icon will

    automatically be placed on the Desktop. 6. Now that the drivers and software package has been installed, connect the iNetVu 7000

    Controller via USB to your PC.

    7. Windows XP users will have to follow the new hardware wizard and let windows automatically install the drivers.

    Select No, not this time Select Install the software automatically

    Click Continue Anyway Click Finish

    8. Windows Vista and 7 users, the drivers should install automatically without any further user

    action.

    9. You have successfully installed the 7000 iNetVu Drivers and Software.

    10. Run the iNetVu 7000 Mobile Software from the shortcut located on the desktop. Advance to the Configuration screen, by right clicking on the Controls screen, and selecting Configuration, and enter the controller IP address in the Controller Configuration section as depicted in the figure below. USB users may skip this step.

    Click the Send All button once the correct IP address is entered.

    11. IMS should read all the data in the controller. In the Target Satellite section enter the Satellite

    Longitude, click Send All. If the controller is to power the LNB set the correct LNB Power, otherwise set to DIS. Click SEND ALL. Offset General Case: All Motorized Pol Feeds Receive Horizontal Offset = 0.0 Receive Vertical Offset = 90.0 980/740 Offset = 0.0 all cases (Manual adjustment required) Rx = H Upright OMT Rx = V OMT Parallel to horizon

    Beam ID Multi Beam Coverage(X5 Evolution) BM=0 Single Beam Coverage BM=170 Dual Beam ID for 123W BM=185 Dual Beam ID for 83W

    Note: Currently there are only 2 Beams for the Dual Beam coverage which are identified by the Beam ID as listed above. Longitude and Beam ID must be set as described above for the search to work on the correct Satellite with the correct Beam ID. Toggling between the 2 Beams will cause the modem to reboot (takes about 1min and communication will be temporarily lost) after the Find Satellite is pressed. The Find Satellite operation will continue automatically after the Modem has rebooted.

    12. Under the Modem section, set to iDirect as the service type.

    Type: iDirect Interface: Telnet or COM For users wishing to use the COM port on the modem for communication, ensure a straight network cable is used with the console adapter and the correct BAUD rate.

    Note: If using COM interface to communicate, COM Port Interface on the Controller side must be set prior to selecting the modem COM interface otherwise COM selection on modem will fail.

    Modem Delay: This delays Controller communication to allow slower modems to

    catch up. The default setting is 0 IP Address: Enter the Modem IP Address Baud Rate: COM Port Interface use 9600 or 4800 Password: P@55w0rd! / iDirect

    After changes have been made please click SEND ALL

    13. Under the Controller Configuration section, please configure the TCP/IP Settings:

    IP Address: Controller IP Address Subnet Mask: Controller Subnet Mask Default Gateway: Controller Gateway (Modem or Router) DNS: Disregard

    If the COM port on the 7000 Controller is to be used for modem communication, ensure MODEM is selected, and the proper speed is selected in the drop down menu (9600 or 4800).

    14. Click SEND ALL and WRITE EPROM. This will send and save all configured parameters to the controller.

    15. Now proceed to the Maintenance Screen by right clicking the software and selecting

    Maintenance. In the Platform section, ensure the correct Type, Version and Serial No. have been entered.

    Click the Send All button once the correct data has been entered

    16. If the user does NOT have a valid DVB carrier or wishes to use the RF Search method. From the

    Search Parameters section select RF Search as the Search Method.

    17. If the user wishes to change the DVB parameters or carrier (DVB-S2 ACM is for 7000B+ model ONLY), could be entered into the DVB Settings section of the Configuration screen. DVB-S2 ACM is used with the Dual Beam Coverage settings. Select a Transponder No. to save configuration to Carrier Type (DVB-S1 or DVB-S2 ACM from drop down menu) L-Band Frequency (KHz) Symbol Rate (Ksps) Code Rate (set to Auto for DVB-S2 ACM carrier)

    Frequency must be converted from Ku-Band to L-Band is based on the LNB Local Oscillator Frequency (LOF). Sample Conversion: Given: Ku-Band Frequency = 12144 MHz LNB LOF = 10750 MHz L-Band: 12144 10750 = 1394 MHz = 1394 000 KHz *****Note: The L-Band Frequency must be in the range of 950,000(KHz) 2,150,000(KHz)

    This shows the complete configuration for one of the Beam ID on a Dual Beam coverage modem, using Longitude 123 W with Beam ID set to BM=170

    18. Click SEND ALL and WRITE EPROM. This will send and save all configured parameters to

    the controller.

    19. Congratulations you have successfully configured your iNetVu System. Navigate to the Controls menu, if there are any flashing Red, and Yellow components, stop and troubleshoot. Otherwise, click Find Satellite. You should be locked on satellite within 2-5 minutes.
