Tools will be needed:
1)35w HID SLIM ballasts and H8 hid bulbs (can be any color of your choice from 3000k
and up) .
I used 6000k in this guide. Make sure you buy slim ballasts, or it will be hard to mount
them without removing the bumper.
In my case HIDs were bought from DDM tuning.
2)Two Male Connectors for H8 (in order to connect HID ballasts to stock wiring without
cutting anything, to make it plug-n-play) . Will let you to simply push two of your HID
wires to this connector and make it direct plug in. (Look above for the picture)
Connect H8 male
connectors here
-
They look like this for example :
3) Panel, Trim and Molding Removal Set . I used it to remove side moldings without
scratching or damaging anything. Works way better than screwdriver
-
4) Short screw driver (you need short one, as tire will be in your way and some screws
right on top of it, and not so much space for long screw driver). Also will help you
unscrew the fog light screw in the passenger side, as it will be next to the wash fluid
reservoir and it is very limited space out there.
Like this one:
5) 3/8 drive . 10mm socket drive to remove 10mm bolts. You will need to remove total 6
bolts in the whole process : 3 from each side.
-
6) Cable zip ties. You will need many of them and long ones to secure HID ballasts in
place. You can screw the hid into the place, but it is very hard to do without removing the
bumper. Zip ties wont melt (buy long and fat ones),so no worries about it.
------------ GET READY-------TIME TO START WORKING ON YOUR
FX35/50 2009+ ---------------
-
Step 1:
Put car on a flat surface, so it wont roll by any chance.
Start working on the drivers side first.
Turn the wheel all the way out, like you are turning left very sharply.
Unscrew them
-
Step 2:
Find all the screws holding the wheel molding (like two above, the ones you have
removed in previous step)
-
Step 3:
Remove screws holding your mud flap and holding the wheel molding .Total should be 6
screws(including 2 you have removed in first picture) and one 10mm bolt on the bottom
holding the mud flap.
Unscrew them
On the bottom of mud flap you will see 10mm bolt, remove it with 10mm drive socket.
After that remove the mud flap
-
You should have end up so far with 6 screws and one 10mm bolt and mud flap removed.
-
Step 4:
Start removing molding. Do very slowly as there are about 8 or so clips holding the
molding. Dont break them. Take your time and do slowly, one by one. Use your trim
tools ,so not to scratch the car paint or molding.
-
Step 5:
Check that your car looks like that. Molding is removed. No mud flap. No clips are
broken. If you broke clips, order some from Nissan/Infiniti dealer, or molding will be
loose
-
Step 6:
Remove two 10mm bolts from the bottom of the drivers side bumper.
Remove them
-
Step 7:
With your trim tools, slide a little the bumper and push out the splash shield
-
Step 8:
As you can see there is a lot of room there and you can even put your hands inside. Pull
the splash shield to give you access, but dont break it. Well dont be scred either,it wont
break easily You will find a fog light there. It will be hold by one 8mm bolt ,or you
can unscrew it with screw driver. Remove the bolt and push the fog lights out.
-
Step9:
Install the bulb to the fog lights. Make sure bulb is straight and not looking to the side.
Before plugging it in, make sure you add H8 male connector to do a true plug-n-play.
-
Step 10 :
Try to turn it on,see if it works, before proceeding with next steps
-
Step 11:
Mount the ballast into the shelf inside the splash shield, on the top with zip ties. Make
sure it wont move. Tie it up good
-
Step 12:
Connect all the wires and zip tie them as well, so no wires hitting or flying around.
-
Step 13:
Bolt the fog light bolt back in. And makes sure all it tight and not moving. Then turn on
the fog lights to make sure it works, before you proceed with putting all back together.
Step 14: Put splash shield into its place and put molding back in in reverse order.
Step 15: Turn the wheel other way sharply, as we will be working on the passenger side.
Step 16: Do exactly same steps with removing the mud flap and molding and splash
shield, as you have done on the drivers side.

-
Step 17:
You will be surprised. Passenger side has washer fluid ,and not so easy to get access to
the bolt on the fog light. Find fog light with your hand, it will take some time, and
unscrew bolt with short screw driver. Long screw driver font fit. Be patient as it will take
time to remove the fog light on that side.
-
Step 18:
You will be mounting ballast on the same shelf as the drivers side
-
Step 19:
Install HID bulb same way as before.
-
Make sure to put bulb
correct so that its
additional piece be on
the bottom and be
straight and not on the
left or right side.
-
Step 20 :
Connect all the wiring. Check that it works and only then put molding and splash shield
back together in reverse order.
Step 21:
Start up the car, take pictures and enjoy the new look
-
Step 22: Very important step
