2014 INFO FORUM 98 94 INFO FORUM 98 94 DIFFERENT KEYS FOR EACH BLOCK ?

As you may remember we mentioned this issue in previous publications and asked for opinions.

The result was that the vast majority of people asked us not to make any change

so nothing has been done and we considered the matter closed.

Again a person has insisted that we would be wise to take the measure.

From our point of view we agree that such a move would certainly provide greater security because not only do our residents have keys to all the blocks but others providing services, cleaners, home helps &c) who have been given

keys, have access to all blocks too..

To have the matter finally settled we intend to ask each resident for their opinion. We will phone everybody, block by block, and the final decisión will be based on

the answers we get.

Where the majority in a block want to change we will make that change. We will give one key to each apartment in that block. In the blocks where the majority opinion is to continue with a common key no change will be

necessary and none made.

HOLAND vs SPAINOn the 13th of June at 21.00 h the football match Holand vs Spain will be played,

if you want you can come and see it in the social center of Forum.

FIESTA of SAN JUANAs in previous years, again this year we intend to

celebrate the traditional San Juan festival . Everyone will remember the entertaining parties that

we have held in earlier years.

Once again this year we plan to build a small falla or hoguera making use of the unmatched guidance

of our painting Professor D. Carlos Lloren. Once again we ask for volunteers to help making

it and once again it will be consumed by fire in accordance with old tradition.

There are countless versions of the meaning of the feast of San Juan , which certainly celebrates the arrival of the summer solstice and the birth of John the Baptist which is said

to have occurred on the 24th June in preparation for the arrival of Jesus.

Traditionally the festival also meant a way of saying goodbye to the past. Formerly at twelve on the night of June 23rd they burned old unwanted furniture

or appliances and jumped over the flames of the fire.

In Forum “ burning anything that is old” is prohibited. We do not want to risk any of us finishing with charred feet – or even worse.

The dinner will be held on June 26 at 20.00 h The menu consists of tapas and different paellas,

We are pleased to announce that the celebration of the Andalusian Party will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 20.00 h.

on the terrace of the cafetería. Where you can taste the delicacies and drinks from Andalusia.

And after dinner you can enjoy spectacular sevillanas dancing in which residents of Forum Mare Nostrum can participate.

Don't miss this typical Spanish party.

DISCOMFORT TO NEIGHBOURS WHEN WALKING WITH HIGH HEELS

We often receive complaints from people who are disturbed by neighbours who wear high heels in the apartmenr.

We ask our residents to use footwear that causes little noise when indoors whenever possible.

FURNITURE AND FIXTURES NO LONGER REQUIRED

Whenever you have anything to dispose of that won't fit into the rubbish containers please inform

reception. Arrangements can then be made for it to be taken away by the local authority's rubbish collection service who will take charge of it so

avoiding unsightly objects lying around the place.

FOR SAFETY

People leaving or entering Forum, (alone or with their pets), frequently

use the exits and entrances intended

for vehicles.

Doing so can sometimes be really dangerous. Two residents have hurt

themselves badly recently having fallen after stumbling on the gate rails. Remember

that drivers coming into Forum may not always see ahead when they swing round

to do so, particularly those who are not familiar with our site. All too often they find somebody on the road in front of them and

they have to brake hard and hastily to avoid an accident. We recommend that

whenever leaving or entering Forum you always use the small gates, and in no case

leave the pathways.

FORUM RESTAURANT

People who have a computer can see on "facebook" the daily menus that can be

enjoyed in our restaurant.

As we all know Jorge and Simone, work hard every day to provide our residents with delicious and varied menus, always using

fresh and top quality products.

The restaurant now offers 14 new menus to choose from.Priced at € 9.50 or € 14.50. You will also be able

to choose a main dish only.

As from June the cafeteria and restaurant will be open Thursday, Friday

and Saturday evenings until 21.00 pm, closed Sunday evening.

If any residents have still not tried Jorge's cooking why not do so.

You will probably come back again.

Remember that often the traditional “fish and chips" is also on the daily menu.

BEWARE OF SERVICE PERSONAL

There have been some instances of people having been used , cheated or otherwise troubled by cleaning staff, caregivers or

other people who serve in different apartments who seek to borrow money, vehicles or other goods.

A Service Office which is responsible for preventing older people being subjected to any kind of abuse has recently

been set up in Spain.

Last week we had a long meeting with two of the prosecutors belonging to that Service . They offered to investigate any scam or case of abuse suffered by our residents.

Anyone with a problems of this nature can go to managment so that we can ask the prosecutor to begin a judicial inquiry into any suitable case.

We are confident that the vast majority of the people who provide any sort of services in Forum are absolutely honest and charge only amounts that correspond

to the services they provide.

Alzheimer's Association of Marina Baixa

On May 15 one of our residents, Mr. Bullock, performed the presentation of his book in our multipurpose room and he wanted to donate all proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association .

We thought it would be interesting to introduce this initiative and learn more about its modus operandi

The main interest of the Alzheimer's Association of Marina Baixa, is to provide families the support and help they need, which is why they are carrying out various programs as detailed below :

1. Psychological Care 2 . Psychostimulation Cognitive Therapy and Physiotherapy for Alzheimer 's Nurses in Mild and Moderate phase 3 . Ambulatory Cognitive Stimulation

4 . Family Therapy 5 . Physiotherapy 6. Social Advice.

The annual membership fee is just 50 € , when you join the organization and where you can gain acces to; Loan Material: Orthopedic (wheelchairs , walkers , handrails, anti -bedsore cushion...) ,

Media (movies , documentaries, ... all related to Alzheimer's disease ) and bibliographical (books , magazines , ...) .

Our headquarters is located in Benidorm , Avenida Aïguera Albero 16 Building Local 3 , opposite Plaza de Toros and Conservatory of Music, but we are in the Marina Baixa, so we can assist and

provide services to potential users of other towns in the Shire.
