IDEA & PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Project idea was created during PBA by young people and youth workers from Norway, Portugal and

Croatia. We have witnessed what kind of lack of opportunities, social and other obstacles have young people

in remote areas on one side. On other side we have witnessed how much can be done with these young

people when we create for them programs and involve them in youth programs together with other

youngsters without these obstacles. Literally young people who are without parental care or depend of

social welfare system, who were making problems in local community (burglaries, violence, alcohol & drug

abusers), can be transferred on the right way and motivated to actively participate in local community and

help in the development of local community.

This has guided us to try to make something similar. We have gathered under idea that we would like to

offer, include and motivate young people without obstacles and young people who have serious obstacles

into common more active approach to the life. Also we wanted to continue the aim of this PBA that has bring

us together, so our focus was on cooperation, exploration heritage and opportunities of countries from

South and from North of EU.

This project aims to offer young people with social and geographical obstacles together with their peers

without obstacles an opportunity to experience European mobility, European values, the interact and learn

from their peers from other part of Europe all in order so they can later also contribute to their community.

From this we define our next specific objectives:

- Exchange cultural backgrounds, value and heritages between participants;

- Increase skills, attitudes and methods for social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities;

- Support and stimulate mobility, mutual cooperation, multiculturalism, tolerance and European values

among young people.

Short description of activities:

In order to make this exchange as much possible interesting and interactive we will use sport and outdoor

activities as a frame through which we will use mentioned non-formal learning methods. Concept is that

through various activities and methods we will investigate each country sport heritage, mix the groups, give

them different tasks and through that bring them closer and more motivated to be included in diverse youth

program, both abroad and in their community. This is first of 2 youth exchanges which will be held in this

project. On this first exchange in Sisak – Croatia we will experience national sport heritage of Croatia or

notably we will learn about Handball, Water-polo, riding a bike, hike to the near hill. )f U don’t know to swim or ride a bike, don’t worry and do not let it that this be your barrier, we will be next to U and show U how to do it.

Our project idea will be realized through Youth Exchange (YE) using methods of non-formal education.

Detailed activity plan we be delivered at later preparation stage after selection of participants.

Dates: 8.4.2017. – 15.4.2017. (travel days included)

TARGET GROUPS

Participants: Each country need to send 8 participants and 2 group leader. Group leader must to be above

18 years old. We will have 2levels and 2 groups of participants. First level is for young people from 16 – 19

years and second level is for young people 20 – 25 years old. Then first group participants are young people

with obstacles and other without obstacles. The obstacles on which this project is focusing are social

obstacles (young people without parental care or depending on social welfare system) and geographical

obstacles (young people living in remote and rural areas).

It is allowed that 20% of each national group have participants that are different level or group of the

focused one. Please pay attention that you should have at least 4 group members who are belonging to

project target group.

Participants need to take into account that they will present their organizations, its country / region, as well

their culture (language, tradition etc.) and share their views / experiences with other participants. Further it

is required that they have knowledge about organization / work of organization which they represent and to

be able to communicate on English language.

ABOUT APPLICANT AND HOSTING ORGANIZATION

Lead beneficiary – applicant of this project is Energy for Synergy EFS . EFS are an informal group of young people based in Narvik – Norway, gathered with aim to calling for collaboration and tolerance

between youth with different national, religious, social & cultural background. Our informal group consists

of young people who have previously completed volunteering service through EVS or other programs under

Erasmus+ and before Erasmus+. We are bringing together young people to share with them our experience. Energy for Synergy is called to encourage youth to invest their knowledge and energy to become a part of the continuous process of non-

formal education. Since 2012 members active in EFS were working as a youth workers in NGO

Narviksenteret. Until nowadays we have implemented four youth exchanges: "Fun.Food.Fire" (2013, Narvik, Norway , (old my hand, speak to me , Stepanavan / Armenia, Kabuleti / Georgia , "Dialogue of cultures" (2014, Aghveran, Armenia) and "Youth on the move" (2016, Sopotnica, Serbia).

We also have experience in working with disabled people. The YE (old my hand, speak to me had as a main topics Environment and better integration of people with physical and mental disabilities in our local

and international society. We were focusing on the ideology of the "home" as our planet itself and learning

how to take care of our home in a better way, where every single human being and creature will leave

having the same rights and responsibilities.

Despite we are a new created informal group of young people we have a great experience from our past

achievements about healthy lifestyles, sport, nutrition etc.

Short about host organization:

Coordination of Sisak Youth Associations (KUMS) is a non-governmental, non-profit association founded in

2005. KUMS is an umbrella organization created of five (5) youth Association (legal bodies): G.U.M.A., K)ŠTRA TEAM Sisak, Kino Klub Sisak, KULT.com and LOTUS. Particular attention is paid to work with youth, respecting and implementing the ideas generated through the process of learning, commitment to the

achieving goals and objectives and communication with the target group of our community.

The main goal of our organization is to promote and improve the quality of life of the young people and the

common interests of associated members, as well as encouraging the association of all interested individuals

and youth initiatives in organizations and societies.

KUMS works with young people, civil society organizations and governing structures using an integrated

development process described in the objectives in the areas of culture, youth work and youth policy

development. We play a major role in creating strategies and policies for young people at local community.

Due to the large number of members and how we are the only organization consist of five organizations for

youth, Local authorities consider us as a large portfolio of activists and a group of young people who are

great resource.

In the past 2 years, our members have been an integral part of the Youth Council of the City of Sisak, through

which they helped to create a structured dialogue between young people and the local government.

Over the past 11 years of the existence Coordination of Sisak Youth Associations, we realized more than 40

projects at the national level and 3 ERASMUS+ projects in our own organization. Currently we are

implementing 12 workshops in our club such as: Acting course, Magic the Gathering playing workshop, D&D

playing workshop, Theatre workshop, Video workshop, Music workshop, Art workshop, Sewing workshop,

Tea workshop, English course and many more with a few sport and recreation activity such as: table tennis,

table soccer, darts ect. Moreover through these workshops we include over 200 people per month making

them as our users.

ABOUT SISAK

Sisak is a city in central Croatia located at the confluence of the Kupa, Sava, and Odra rivers, 57 km southeast of

the Croatian capital Zagreb. The city's total population in 2011 was 47,768. Sisak is the administrative centre of

the Sisak-Moslavina county, and is a regional economic, cultural and historical centre.

Sisak's history begins in 4th century BC; prior to the invasion by the Roman Empire, the region

was Celtic and Illyrian and the city there was named Segestica. In German the town is known as Sissek,

in Hungarian as Sziszek, Latin as Siscia, in Serbian Cyrillic as Сисак, a d i Slovene as Sisek. During the Roman

Empire when Sisak was known as Siscia, a Roman mint in the city produced coins under a series of emperors

between 262 and 383 CE. It was in this period that the Christian martyr Quirinus of Sescia was tortured and nearly

killed during Diocletian's persecution of Christians. Today he is the patron saint of Sisak. The 16th century

triangular fortress of the Old Town, well-preserved and turned into the Native Museum, is the main destination

of every tourist. The fortress is famous for the victory over the Turks in 1593, known as the Battle of Sisak. It was

one of the early significant defeats of the up-to-then invincible Turkish army on European territory.

The Croatian Ban To a Bakač Erdödi who led the defence in this battle became famous throughout Europe.

The Baroque palace of Mali Kaptol, the classicist Veliki Kaptol, the brick Stari most ("Old Bridge") over the Kupa,

and the archaeological park are popular visited landmarks. Only 15km from Sisak there is a natural and cultural

sight, Hrastovica forest/mountain - a popular excursion site for nature lovers (and us!). Hiking trails lead from the

village centre and through the largest European chestnut forest with numerous drinking water springs, to the

highest peak - the Cepeliš ith a eautiful li ers’ lodgi g.

Main occupations of Sisak inhabitants are farming, ferrous metallurgy (iron works), chemicals, textiles and food

processing plants (bread, vinegar and alcoholic beverages), building material, crude oil refinery, and thermal

Sisak is a popular destination in the summer and many people from the surrounding cities visit the cafés situated

along the river Kupa (and so will you during your stay :).

HOW TO GET TO SISAK

Please note that we expect you to arrive on April 8.

On the map you can see majority of important cities for assistance in your travel routes. You can see that Sisak is

very near to capital town – Zagreb, just 50km away. The best option is to arrive to Zagreb by bus, train, airplane

or car. Flights for Zagreb are not cheap so if you wish to come with an airplane we suggest you to seek travels to

Budapest (HU).

exit - take it. From there you will see road signs that will lead you for 25km directly to Sisak. If you are coming

with car from west (ITA, SLO) then stay on the highway, enter in the ring around Zagreb and follow the signs for

“la o ski Brod till ou do ’t see sig for “isak. Before tur i g from the ring you will have on your left side a big

shoppi g e tre alled “UPERNOVA . You will have two exits for Sisak very close to each other – maybe 500m,

take the second one. The first one is marked with a yellow colour and it is a local road that is also good if you

want to past next to cities and villages. Second exit is marked with green colour for highways so here you

continue to use highway for another 30km till end of the highway, then you just follow the exit and it will take

you to the local road to Sisak – 15km more to Sisak.

If you would like to come by train or bus, you will arrive to the main bus / train station. When you arrive to

Zagreb it is quite easy to come to Sisak because you have frequent buses or trains. Both the buses and trains are

transporting from around 5:30 till 23:00 and it takes them about 1h to Sisak.

In Sisak bus and train station are next to each other and we will be waiting for you on station in agreed time.

Bus prices from Split to Zagreb are from 150 to 220 HRK or 20 - 9€. The most usual price is 166HRK or a out €; Bus prices from Dubrovnik to Zagreb are from 210 to 250 HRK or 28 - €. The most usual price is 225HRK or

a out €; Bus and train ticket price is from 33 to 36HRK hi h is al ost €. Shuttle bus service from Zagreb main bus station to airport U have in every 30 minutes, on half hour and full hour

from both starting points (airport and main bus station). The ticket price is 30HRK (4euro) in one direction.

As you know the budget in ERASMUS + is calculating travel costs based on bird distance. However, it is necessary

to provide original tickets and documents as proof of payment for your arrival, and calculate total cost.

tags/cards etc. Travels need to be done with the cheapest possible solutions, e.g. second class railway tickets,

The domestic currency is the Croatian kuna (HRK).

The exchange rate is € = appro i atel .5 HRK.

You can exchange foreign currency in exchange offices and banks. Be aware that it might be difficult to exchange

coins here, so bring the paper bills. There is no significant difference in the exchange rates, except at the airport,

hotels and sometimes restaurants.

Restrictions:

Foreigners are allowed to bring their medications, but are advised to declare the quantity on the entry to Croatia,
