Comments:

Packers: please start entering your 4week forecasts if your season is about to start in February & March. For quality assurance, please remind growers before picking to ensure dry matter of at least 23% for Hass & 21% for Shepard.

Week 07 - 2020 summary:

• North Queensland packers: please start entering your 4week forecasts now if your Shepard season starts in late February or early to mid March.

• Total dispatch was 290, 496 trays, a decrease of 7% on the previous week (313,410 trays) and 1.5% higher than the forecasted 286,230 trays.

• Western Australia supplied the majority of fruit at 56%, followed by New Zealand at 33% and North Qld at 10%. Tristate and Sunshine Coast supplied 1%.

Marketing Update: Promoting Australian Avocados in Japan

Next month, Avocados Australia is supporting three industry members to attend FoodEx Japan, as part of the Hort Innovation Taste Australia pavilion. This opportunity (as part of project AV17000), is an opportunity to showcase Australian Avocados to the Japanese market. An avocado recipe will be cooked up by the chef on the stand, and various Japanese-language materials will be available to attendees, with details on availability and the benefits of Australian Avocados.

The Weekly Infocado report is compiled using data contributed by avocado packhouses, consolidators and wholesalers through the Infocado system. We estimate that 85% of industry is represented in this report. Please note that Quarterly Infocado reports incorporate an allowance (by region) for the data which is not contributed to the Infocado system. It is thus, not possible to extrapolate the figures from Weekly Infocado reports to those in Quarterly Infocado reports.

Initially, this report is provided to Infocado contributors only, then publicly released six weeks later. Until public release, the report is confidential.

This report has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the avocado research and development levy and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture.
