THE PROBLEM

COMPANIES

x SAFETY AND HEALTH WORK (SHW)

Page 3: Inforadapt2Europe Arcos de Valdevez, 29  September 2009

Safety and Health at Work in Europe, in particular in Portugal, show:

o low “share of employees with higher education”o low “share of firms that train their employees”.

Hugo Hollanders and Anthony Arundel (2005) “European Sector Innovation Scoreboards”

Absenteeism from work costs European workers approximately one million Euros per year;

SME’s are particularly exposed with 82% of the total number of accidents at work, and 90% of the total number of fatal accidents;

28% of European workers suffer from health problems caused, or aggravated, by their current job;

35% of workers confirm that their work is a risk to their health.

In this context, the main problem that arises in the field of Safety and Health at Work (SHW) is the lack of employers’ and employees’ skills for the implementation of SHW.

1AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Thought of in the initial phase of the project and intended to stimulate interest on the topic of SHW.

Page 7: Inforadapt2Europe Arcos de Valdevez, 29  September 2009

Designed to solve two essential problems:• Difficult access to information on the subject of SHW;

• Lack of communication channels between experts and other stakeholders in this

area.

Objectives:• Free and easy access to various types of contents related to this issue;

• Create an independent network that allows easier communication between

individuals and experts in the field;

• Area of discussion and clarification.

Page 15: Inforadapt2Europe Arcos de Valdevez, 29  September 2009

STAGE Description

1st STAGE – IDENTIFICATION PROCESS

This step is known for identifying potential participants (institutions, enterprises) in the activities of spreading (to the release process of the 2 nd level), and by the identification of the partners’ needs.

2nd STAGE – PLANNING PROCESS

After knowing the companies – target of dissemination (2 nd level), and after knowing their technical, organizational and training needs, the concrete planning of the activities of dissemination follows, such as, monitoring activities and the activities of communication and Marketing.

3rd STAGE – IMERSION PROCESS

Integration, re-contextualization and eventual reconstruction / adaptation of the product to the context and culture of the incorporator organization.Following the divisions of the tasks, and the operational plan, an action plan by the partner is established, which will be legitimized through the establishment of a commitment by right, and followed the disclosure activities and the activities that imply knowledge of the products that will be transferred (technical visits to companies that applied the products, training actions and clarifications, etc)

4th STAGE- APPLICATION PROCESS

The disseminator organizations will perform the initiatives of promoting the products (next issue).
