Informal Communication• In informal communication
are shorter and simpler.
• Speaking without preparation, as in a conversation (in real life or over the phone).
• It is easy to convey messages.
• Advantages of oral communication are speed and feedback.
Informal Communication in business/organization
Informal communication is not based on organizational structure or relationships and is free from all sorts of formalities.
It is generally Termed as ‘grapevine’ or ‘Bush Telegraph’.
It may be expressed by a gesture, a glance, a smile, a nod or even by silence.
Informal communication takes place due to the individual needs of the members of an organization and subsists in every organization.
An organization can make efficient use of informal channels to fortify the formal channels of communication.
Phrases in Informal English. A huge number of words and phrases are used mainly in informal English.
• dude, freaking, uh-huh, nope(= no), to puke, trashy, grownup, awesome, to chill out, stuff, hard-up, to tick somebody off, to sell like crazy.
Phrasal verbs are used frequently.
• For example, in informal situations, people usually say found out instead of discovered, came across instead of encountered and got away instead of escaped.
Words and phrases are sometimes pronounced in a shortened and simplified way
• Lemme go!, I'm doin' fine, Whassup?, Whatcha gonna do?
Conversation Start with….
• Food, books, entertainment, people and places are the best conversation topics that can be used to initiate a conversation

Sustaining Techniques In Conversation
• Accepting criticism: Don't let it become an argument.
• Balanced conversation: Give and take in good measure.
• Enthusiasm for the subject: Infect them with your passion.
• Linking: Connect what is said to other things.
Also remember that the most powerful way of keeping a conversation going is simply to ask questions that the other person is interested in answering, and then doing a great deal of listening.

Two words of caution
“My Bad” and “I’m Sorry” are two words that could mean apologies or my mistake.
Polite words will take you farther than smarts, and will certainly get you farther than the smart-aleck. Polite words are better than the finest clothes and the most expensive car.
