BACKGROUND
• The Operations meeting resolved that there is
congestion of informal trading activities within the
CBD’s .
• Moratorium for 12 months issued on demarcating
of new sites and issuing of permits .
• Informal trading survey carried out across the
entire eThekwini to propose layouts and
structures .

CONCLUSION
• Lancer R102 Road should be a no trade zone .
• The possible upgrade and construction of Inanda & Block
16 Taxi Ranks , bus rank opposite Early Morning Market
etc. could open up space for displaced traders .
• Locating vacant or purchasing building that could be used
to accommodate certain typology of traders e.g traditional
arts and crafts , clothing etc .
• Traders along Soldiers Way on the Newlands taxi rank to
be relocated to accommodate the new Library proposal .
• Permanent moratorium on demarcation of new sites .
