Ten-Pro Global Junior Tour – KIM CLIJSTERS – Next Generation Cup 2016

The Kim Clijsters Academy (KCA) is located in the city of Bree, Belgium. The city of Bree, is

located approximately one-hour drive from Brussels, Dusseldorf and Eindhoven (main

airport cities), and is an important city in the northeast of the province of Limburg. It is

centrally located in Europe, close to Dutch and German borders. It has exceptional green

surroundings in the province of Limburg with many walking and cycling trails. The academy

is located 1km from the very nice centre and square of Bree with plenty of restaurants and

shops. The academy is the perfect place for every young aspiring tennis player to reach his

or her goals in professional tennis. Each player is important for the academy and the

objective is to get the maximum out of every player.

In order to have your players prepared for the upcoming tournament we have arranged a

special training package where everyone can choose the options which suits their needs.

Players can choose to join the camp sessions, book individual sessions with our KCA

coaches or rent a court to play with their own coaches. With these three options we will

have the majority of your needs covered.


Practice at KCA from 25th of June till July 3rd

Training Camp

The camp takes place from Saturday 25th till Tuesday 28th of June 2016 and can be booked

for 1,2,3 or 4 full days or half days. The camp will be focused mainly on preparation for the

tournament and will be conducted in groups of max. 4 players per court, with 1 coach per

court. The practice will be run by experienced and qualified KCA coaches. The sessions are

from 10 am-1230 pm, lunch break and 1.30 pm-4 pm. The camp can be booked in advance

Private lessons with a KCA coach

In the period from Saturday 25th June to Sunday 3rd July, private lessons can be booked

every day from 8 am till 8 pm, depending on the availability of the courts and coaches.

Every KCA coach is highly experienced and has sufficient skills to work with U12 players. A

one-hour private lesson costs €40 outdoors or €50 if it has to go ahead indoors. The

lessons can be booked at the KCA information desk or in advance via email to

[email protected] .

Court Booking indoor and outdoor

Depending on availability, courts can be booked throughout the week at a cost of €10 per

hour. You can book them in 30min (€5) slots to a max. of 2 hours per block in order to

provide courts to everyone. We have indoor clay and outdoor courts and we have also

possibilities to rent outdoor courts in a nearby club, a 5-minute drive from the Kim Clijsters

Academy. Courts can be booked and pay in advanced at the KCA information desk.

KCA: an overview

The facility offers 8 indoor courts (of which 5 are indoor clay) and 10 outdoor red clay

courts. Within the facility there is also the Energy lab, which is a major asset to any athlete

looking to get the best out of their workouts. Energy lab offers screenings using the Hawk

Eye technology for tracking the ball and filming the player in order to measure their tennis

specific physical endurance; provide a biomechanical analysis; as well as a tactical analysis

of their game. Furthermore, there is nutritional and mental advice available as well as a

fully equipped gym of course. Under the guidance of her former fitness coach and

osteopath Sam Verslegers there is a whole team of therapists available including an

acupuncturist, dentist, physiotherapy, massage etc… This holistic approach makes sure

that every athlete can perform at his/her optimal level!

The further uniqueness of this academy is the personal touch and inspiration that one of

the leading ladies in Women's tennis history gives to this place. She is the heart and soul of

this place and yes, you will see and meet Kim when

she is around!!

For visiting players, we offer weekly prices that include:

Clinical and Functional body analysis as well as Nutrional and Mental profiling

For travelling pro's there are weekly prices if they travel more than they actually train at

KCA. There are also monthly prices for international players that train full time at

KCA. Most services are included in this program. Discounts apply according to level and

commitment to KCA.

beautiful complex with everything a player or coach would need.

Organisation KCA

Clijsters Kim

With 41 WTA titles, 3 Grand Slams and number 1 position in single and

doubles she is the inspiration and motivator of both players and staff at the

Academy. With her regular presence at the Academy she provides the X-

factor for this unique training environment where she insists that contact

with the players is on a personal level. “KCA: not the biggest, but the

best”. This year Kim herself was present at the Australian Open with 5 of

our Academy players!!

Maes Carl

Carl Maes is one of the most experienced and respected coaches in the

world. He joined the Belgian Tennis Federation in 1992 and worked with

former nr1 in the World in single and doubles Kim Clijsters from the age of

12 and coached her for more than 10 years in total throughout her career,

having also worked with Kristof Vliegen and Xavier Malisse when they were

juniors. He was responsible for junior and pro-development programs in Great Britain and

Norway and is currently the Academy Director for the Kim Clijsters Academy where he

manages the staff and oversees the player programs. As Belgium’s Fed Cup captain he led

the team to the final in 2006.

Van Den Bossche Koen

Full time tennis coach since 2003 and since 2010 in the Kim Clijsters

Academy. Through the years he worked with national top junior players in

all age categories, therefore he is awarded the label as Kids Development

Trainer by the Flemish tennis federation. As one of the first coaches of the

KCA he was a pioneer coach of the academy. Currently he is responsible for

the club competitions players as well as responsible for the youth in the club board. He has

experience in the Tennis-Europe U12 circuit and is also co-director of this Tournament.

Spencer-Nairn Fiona

Fiona worked up until 2009 at the British Tennis Federation as a project

manager (leading on projects such as the overhaul of the membership

scheme). In 2009, Fiona and her partner Carl Maes left the UK to set up their

own tennis academy in Belgium. In April 2014 they moved to the KCA, where

Fiona is responsible for daily operations and communication with the players

and parents and development of the academy database on an international scale.


Coaches

Braeckman Maxime

Former coach from Xavier Malisse for 3 years (start ATP 250, end ATP 42).

Coach from Kirsten Flipkens for 1 year (start WTA 70, end WTA 13). Best

ranking as a player, number 16 in Belgium.

Now full time coach at the Kim Clijsters Academy since September 2012,

currently working with the number 1 junior boy & girl in Belgium.

Cleeren Niels

Former college tennis player.

Vice-Belgian National Champion in 2015. Experience as a sparring partner

from top players like Eugenie Bouchard, Karolina Pliskova and many

more. Fulltime coach at 'KCA' since July 2015 and working as coach for

junior and pro players.

Meijs Maarten

Former national player in the Netherlands with ATP points in doubles.

Former coach at tennis academy Henk van Hulst in the Netherlands. Former

coach for: Jesse Huta Galung(ATP, 110), Matwe Middelkoop( ATP,197), Eva

Wacanno(WTA, 500). Now full time coach at Kim Clijsters academy.

Responsible for pro and junior players.

Vleeshouwers Rick

Former college player and top junior in the Netherlands. Former coach of

Yanina Wickmayer, presently coach of Elise Mertens who won a WTA 250

Doubles title and 50 k singles title, leading her to a career high WTA ranking

in doubles and singles. Responsible at KCA for Junior and Pro program. He

has experience at junior, ITF and WTA level.

Brandsma Rob (Fitness coach)

Rob was a very good tennis player himself before he specialized in Tennis

Specific Fitness. With plenty of international experience gained and

regularly keeping up with the latest Physical Conditioning research he is an

important part of the Academy and prepares players well for tournaments.


Energy Lab & Hawk Eye

Free “fastest serve” contest for every player. There will be a price for the fastest

serve from the boys and the girls. Powered by HAWK EYE.

During the tournament there will be a 1-hour biomechanical test at a promo price

for 125€.

Energy Lab is a training and support center specialized in physical testing, coaching and

movement analysis. The services Energy Lab provide are both for recreational as for top

athletes.

Physical testing

The Tennis Performance Test screens your tennis

specific fitness with a maximal exercise test on court

against a ball machine with increasing ball

frequency. Lactate and heart rate are monitored.

Your basic aerobic fitness, your ability to recover

and your tennis specific endurance will be

determined. Meanwhile, the way you play and the

effect of fatigue on your stroke quality (precision, speed, spin, etc.) is recorded by Hawk-

Eye. You will receive detailed advice about your fitness and strokes.

Movement analysis

Hawk-Eye measures all parameters of your tennis game. Every situation can be analyzed in

detail. The results can be displayed in graphs and statistics (speed, spin, bounce height,

contact point, etc.). Every movement and stroke are simultaneously recorded by high

speed cameras from different angles. You will receive applicable advice for your different

shots for all directions.

Physiotherapy by Groep SAM

Sam Verslegers worked as Kim’s osteopath throughout her long and successful career and

therefore knows better than anyone what is required to keep a sportsman/woman in peak

form. His practice, Groep Sam, is located at the Kim Clijsters Sports and Health Club and

offers a vast range of therapeutic services: from osteopathy to acupuncture to dietary

advice, mental coaching, psychosomatic therapy, orthodontics, pilates and sports

massages.

"We offer a complete package of therapies for everyone.", explains Sam Verslegers. In

other countries you can find practices like ours offering different paramedical specialists

under one roof, but in Belgium we are true pioneers in this field."

An additional bonus of having Groep Sam on site, is the co-operation

between the therapists and the KCA coaches. This means that the

young talented players are better cared after in the entirity. “We can

deal with situations really quickly,” tells Versleger; “If a player injures

themselves whilst training on court here, we can quickly see them in

between appointments in order to give them the care they need as

quickly as possible.”

From the airport to the club or accommodation, transportation can be arranged by

Main Return to airport only on Monday 6 am:

From the club or accommodation to the airport, transportation can be arranged by

FREE Shuttle from the hotel to the club and vice versa

The Kim Clijsters Academy and Ten-Pro provides a FREE shuttle service from the

players’ accomodation in Centerparcs Peer to the club. This shuttle service works

with the principle “first come first serve”. Each day there will be trips with a 50-

person capacity bus to and from the academy at set times. The trip schedule will be

as follow:

6 am Centerparcs to KCA

6.30 am KCA to Centerparcs

7 am Centerparcs to KCA

7 pm KCA to Centerparcs

7.30 pm Centerparcs to KCA

30 mins after last match from KCA to Centerparcs

Taxi service by KCA

KCA will also offer a taxi service to local amenities or accommodations when it suits

you, within a 10km radius of the club. For example, if you want a lift to the shops,

or go to the other club to practice there, or just visit one of the local attractions in

the area. These journeys cost €5 pp one way and are for a maximum of 7 people. If

you need transport to a location outside the 10km radius, this will need to be

arranged beforehand at the KCA Information Desk. All taxi services need to be

booked in advance at the KCA information desk.
