OverviewMusic Across Texas festivals give ensembles the chance to experience the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in an environment that provides the perfect balance of music education and fun! This unique event offers participants the opportunity to present a public performance for an experienced music educator that will evaluate the ensemble and provide verbal feedback. At the conclusion of your performance, the evaluator will present a brief review to the students that focuses on perception, performance and evaluation.

ATTRACTION TICKETSAdmission and meal tickets, for Six Flags and Schlitterbahn events, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to your performance day. If you have not received your tickets 4-5 days prior to your performance day, please notify Music Across Texas immediately.
ARRIVING AT THE ATTRACTIONEach participant will need his/her ticket to enter the attraction. In many cases, all participants, instruments, and equipment must enter through the front gate and security systems.
STAGE SETUPYour Music Across Texas representatives will ask for a Stage Setup Chart and one set of scores when you arrive at the pre-staging area. Please preselect a few ensemble members to oversee the stage setup for your ensemble.
INSTRUMENTAL EQUIPMENT PROVIDEDChairs, music stands, director’s podium, concert bass drum, and four (4) timpani will be provided by Music Across Texas. All other instru-ments and equipment must be brought into the attraction through the front gate and security systems by the performing group.
CHORAL EQUIPMENT PROVIDEDFour (4) sections of choral risers, and an acoustic piano or high quality electronic keyboard will be provided by Music Across Texas. All other equipment must be brought into the park through the front gate and security systems by the performing group.
ON STAGEYour group has been allotted a twenty-fi ve (25) minute performance slot. This time includes any warm-up or breaks before and during your performance. Once your ensemble has taken the stage, the Music Across Texas representatives will announce the beginning of your performance.
At the conclusion of your performance, please remain on stage for your evaluator review and a brief awards presentation.
OUTSTANDING SECTIONThe Music Across Texas evaluator will select an outstanding section of the ensemble based on their performance. The members of this section will receive an award at the conclusion of the performance. An ensemble must have a least 4 distinct sections for an outstanding section to be picked.
AFTER YOUR PERFORMANCEAt the conclusion of your performance, your groups should return to the bus (using the front gate exit) to store all equipment and instru-ments. At this point, your group is encouraged to enjoy the attraction!
OBSERVING PERFORMANCESA performance schedule will be posted at the main entrance to the performance venue. Admission to the performance area is free with an attraction ticket. Your group is encouraged to listen to other performing ensembles to help cultivate the best possible performance environment. Please ask your students and chaperones to observe traditional concert etiquette.

Performance of RecordOffers instrumental groups a quality performance and recording opportunity. Each venue will have a pre-selected recording engineer. A public concert with a combined event program listing for each group will be held using the TMEA Honor Band/Orchestra guidelines.
Honors Concert SeriesProvides university and high school programs the opportunity to perform a concert in one of the world’s most prestigious concert venues. For many ensembles, a performance in the Isaac Stern Auditorium/Ronald O. Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall is a crowning musical achievement. Current and previous HCS locations include: Bass Hall, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center in Chicago, and Symphony Hall in Boston.
Remember the HeroesOffers performing groups the opportunity to pay tribute to the United States military heroes by way of a patriotic public performance in the shadows of the USS Arizona Memorial and USS Bowfi n Submarine Museum and Park in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Each group will receive a professional banner, a United States fl ag fl own over the USS Bowfi n, and a Remember the Heroes trophy to commemorate their performance.
Mark of Excellence – The Foundation for Music Education(National Wind Band, Choral, Orchestra, Jazz and Percussion Ensemble Honors Project)This project seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by school bands, choirs, and orchestras. The project will gather entries from throughout the United States and provide valuable feedback for all entrants. A unique competitive environment is created that allows ensembles to compare their performance quality to that of other outstanding groups from across the country. Information can be obtained via www.foundationformusiceducation.org.
HauntCertA performance opportunity at PINSTACK or iT’Z offered on the Friday night before Halloween to middle school instrumental groups. Groups are encouraged to perform one Halloween song and come dressed in Halloween costumes. Up to 10 individual awards are given to the best costume.
