11An American degree. A global education.

Adelaide is an exciting and lively place to visit, live, or work. Ranked as the fifth-most liveable city in the world, the city offers an amazing quality of life, with affordable housing and good economic opportunities.

There are many factors to consider when looking for somewhere to stay, such as cost, location and independence versus sharing. You may choose temporary accommodation ready for your arrival and then secure long term accommodation once settled into life in Adelaide and at the university.

Students can select from several types of housing which include: apartments, houses, hostels and private boarding options. Sharing a rented house or apartment with other students is generally the most affordable form of accommodation. Upon request our staff are able to put you in touch with other Carnegie Mellon students who are also looking for roommates.

Once you have accepted your place at Carnegie Mellon, our support staff will provide you with a comprehensive list of accommodation options and services to make choosing your short and long-term accommodation easier.

For international students, it is important to plan and prepare a budget before you arrive in Adelaide. Your tuition fees do not include living costs such as accommodation, food and other expenses. These costs can add up to approximately AUD $18,500+ per year.

Accommodation

Cost of Living

In the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual World Wide Cost of Living Survey, Adelaide regularly achieves an excellent ranking as one of the most affordable cities in Australia. Statistics show that Adelaide is 19% cheaper to live in compared to Melbourne and Sydney and 7% cheaper to live in compared to Perth and Brisbane.
