InformationThere are two types of COVID-19 tests:

LFD Test(Lateral Flow Device)

PCR Test(Polymerase Chain Reaction)

Primary school staff are being asked to opt in to twice-weekly LFD tests in order to try and manage the COVID-19 infection rates. Approximately 1 in 3 individuals are asymptomatic when they contract COVID-19 and it is believed that the use of regular LFD tests amongst staff will help to identify those who may be positive for COVID-19 and are still infectious yet are asymptomatic.

Opting in/outInvolvement within the LFD bi-weekly testing is optional and is open to all staff members regardless of your role. We will advise you in due course when these test kits can be collected.

We are asking all staff members to let us know if they are opting in or opting out.

Please do so by completing this survey : Lateral Flow response survey

Kit ContentsYour kit should contain the following items:

InstructionsFull instructions on how to administer the LFD tests are given alongside your test kit. Inside your testing kit is an old set of instructions which should not be used. Please recycle the old instructions and follow the new set of instructions.

Each test takes approximately 5 minutes to administer and 30 minutes for a result to show. Please read the instructions carefully.

Those that work every day – ie Monday to Friday (or a majority of the week)The likely testing schedule would be that staff are required to take their LFD test at home on a Sunday and Wednesday evening, between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. The rationale for the Sunday and Wednesday evening is this will allow enough time to arrange cover if appropriate.

Those that do NOT work every day If you are on a part time contract covering part of the week for example Wednesday to Friday you will be asked to take the test between 5.00pm and 6.00pm on a Sunday and also between 5pm and 6pm the evening before your first day in school.

Please only contact Neil Henery 07913 542044 by 7.00pm if your test is positive or you have had 2 consecutive void tests.

Results

If the LFD test shows negativeIf the LFD test is negative, staff can come in to school as normal. You must update the online portal via this link each time you take the test which is similar to the system used to update your car tax.You will need the Test ID number which can be found underneath

School cannot view the results on the portal so you will need to inform Neil Henery ASAP of a positive or void test. You must also let Neil Henery know (07913 542044 )if you have been unable to take your test for any reason. You can dispose of your test in the waste bag and your normal household waste.

If the LFD test shows positive

Stay calm! A positive LFD test may not necessarily mean you are positive for COVID-19. You must inform school immediately by calling Neil Henery 07913 542044.

You must begin your self-isolation and arrange a PCR test via this link at a drive-in centre (preferred) or via a home testing kit (organised online). Drive in centres have the quickest turn around for results so is the preferred option – you must inform the school if you are not going to a drive-in centre.

Please choose the following options online:

Page 8: Information · Web viewThere are two types of COVID-19 tests: LFD Test. (Lateral Flow Device) PCR Test. (Polymerase Chain Reaction) Primary school staff are being asked to opt in

Choose this option if you had two void tests.

1) You must update the online portal which is similar to the system used to update your car tax. You will need the test ID number which can be found underneath the LFD test strip.

If the LFD test has one ‘void’ You must use one of the other test kits to repeat the test. If the test works the second time round, please follow the instructions above for either a positive/negative test result. You

must also update the online portal via this link and also inform the school of a void test (. It is important you do this as we may need to report faulty tests to the DFE.

If the LFD test shows two ‘voids’ This is very uncommon. In the event of two voids, you will need to organise a PCR test. Please see step 1-3 of the positive test steps.

For those opting inTests will be available for collection next week, we will advise you when these can be collected from the school office.

Please bear in mind that you must have completed the survey by Monday 25th January at 10.00am to opt in, read and watched the listed materials before you can be issued with a test next week. The office staff have to log each test pack & instruction booklet out to a named member of staff so there is admin to be done before they can issue them.

PLEASE REMEMBER - Each and every test has to be accounted for with a result

You MUST update the Government online portal every time you take a test

You MUST update the school office every time you take a result via this link Cringleford Primary Staff Lateral Flow Test Result including information regarding any issues with the test or taking the test itself.

Further Information

Although the DFE would like us to begin testing on Monday 25th January, we are still awaiting further information from the Local Authority.

The purpose of this guide/booklet is to give you some time to think about whether you are likely to opt in/out before Monday.
