Resume Writing Tips for Freshers & Experienced

    OUTSIDE RESUME ::

    Resume Format

Always have a .doc (Microsoft Word) format and .txtformat ofyour resumewith you. When you are filling your

resume in websites, you need the text format and when

you are sending resume through mail, it's better to sendthe .doc format.

Few companies may ask specifically for .rtf format. In suchcase, you don't have an option anyway.

    Resume Size

Try to see to it that the .doc resume file size is less than100 KB.

    Resume File Name

Don't give some junk names as file name for the resume. If you keep use junk names, there is every possibility thatyour mail will travel to bulk/trash folder of recruiter. Your

resume's file name should ideally denote your name,

experience, technology, years of experience and company

name. Keep some valid name for your resume.

    Example: Resume_Chetana_J2EE_3 Years_INFOSYS.doc

    Example: Resume_Chetana_FRESHER_B

    Tech_Computers.doc

    Exclusive Mail IDs

Use only one (or maximum of 2) mail Ids exclusively forthe purpose of recruitments. Do NOT use those mail Ids

for any other purpose (Especially you should not use it for

subscribing to any GROUP mails or FORWARD mails).

    Standard Mail Service Providers

You must be careful about the service providers in whichyou open a mail account. Don't use the mail Ids/accounts

from non-standard service providers. If they disconnect

services suddenly, your mail ID fails and you need to

resend resumes with new mail Id to all the companies you

have already applied. So, always try to create mail Ids

with standard service providers like Yahoo, Rediff, Google

    etc.

Choose both mail Ids from different mail serviceproviders. In case, if one service provider experiences

technical problems, you can use the other service

    provider. www.chetanasinterview.com

    Mail Space

Always see to it that at least 50 % of your mailbox size isfree. Delete unnecessary mails periodically.

    Send from same mail ID

While sending the resume, preferably send it from themail ID you have mentioned in your resume.

    Always keep a copy

While sending the resume, always keep a CC/BCC to yourmail ID (or at least keep your sent items ON) so that you

will know whether the resume is attached properly

and/or whether it's traveling to bulk mail folder.

    www.chetanasinterview.com

    Subject Line

If the company mentions that a specific 'Job Code' has tobe written in Subject Line, write that. If nothing specific,

then give a proper subject line for your mail.

    Example: Resume - J2EE - 3 Years Experience - INFOSYS -

    Bangalore

    Covering Letter

Always try to include a "short" covering letter justcontaining your experience, current location, contactdetails (address & phone number) current company

name, technology you are working in. Don't write too long

covering letters. No HR will spend time on reading your

    long letters.

    Short is Sweet

Don't make the resume too long. Keep it short & sweet. Itshould be less than 3 pages (and up to a maximum of 4).

The HR will hardly have 1 minute to glance at your

resume. He won't have the time to read story-like resume.

So, be precise, clear and straight to the point.

Better use bullets for mentioning important points.Check BULK mail folder

Check the BULK mail folder before blindly emptying it. Ihave seen people who lost call letters because of it.

    INSIDE RESUME :: www.ChetanaSinterview.com

    Header & Footer !

Always have a header & footer in your resume. Header can contain a simple heading of your resume. Footer should preferably contain the page number.

First Page is the best page to convey all about you !

Typically the HR expects all the important details in the first page.

He receives hundreds of resumes and hardly gets 1 minute to look

at your resume and so he won't bother to search your resume for

the required details, if the details are not found in his first glance

    at your resume.

The first page of resume must contain the following things:

Personal Details : Full Name, Date of Birth, PassportNumber.

Current Contact Details : Full Contact Address, ContactPhone Numbers, Mail ID & Alternate Mail ID.

Work ExperienceSummary : All the companies you haveworked so far, Company Address, Website, Dates of

Duration in each Company. Don't assume that everyone

knows about your company. (You can highlight if your

current company has any good quality levels likeCMM/CMMI)

Job Responsibilities : Your job profile in your pastcompanies. For example, you should highlight that you

are working as 'Module Leader leading a team of 6

    people' in your current company.

Skill Set Summary : Highlight all the technologies youknow well. Don't include any technologies you have not

    worked on.

Certifications : Include any relevant certifications youhave. That gives you an edge over others.

    www.chetanasinterview.com

Education Details Summary : Your Post Graduation,Graduation, Intermediate, 10 th details, Aggregate

Percentage, Year of Pass out (Most important).

Contact Details at the top, not at bottom !

Contact Details should be at the top of resume, not at thebottom.

Never include the contact details in Header or Footer. They won't be visible properly.

Always provide an alternate mail ID !

Always provide an 'Alternate Mail Id' also (in case youroriginal mail Id fails, it will be useful). Do NOT give more than 2 mail Ids in resume. The

recruiters as well as you will get confused which mail Id to

    send/receive call letters.

No one can save you if your Mail ID fails !

Check the mail Ids you provided in CV by sending a trialmail. (I have seen people giving Yahoo.com instead of

Yahoo.co.in. If the mail Id fails when HR sends you call

letter, no one can save you in this world. No HR will

resend the call letter if your mail ID fails.)

Never use official mail ID ! (for Experienced people)

NEVER use OFFICIAL MAIL ID or OFFICIAL PHONE NUMBERin the resume. You must always provide the Personal mail

Id & Personal Phone/Mobile Number. You can give the

OFFICIAL MAIL ID for reference at the end the resume.

    www.chetanasinterview.com

    Spell Check !

Always perform a spell check and grammar check on theresume. You don't deserve a job if you can't write your

    resume without mistakes.

There is nothing wrong in getting your resume reviewedby someone else. They might catch the mistakes that your

    eyes can never detect.

    Educational details are important !

People (especially experienced people) think that theydon't need to give the educational details. But they are

important. If not all details, at least give the highest

qualification, college/university name and aggregatepercentage. (Some HR people simply delete the resumes

    without educational details.)

    Reverse Chronological order!

Your latest job profile is more important than your firstone. So, always write the details in reverse chronological

order (start with the latest) especially when you are listing

previous company details or educational qualification

    details.

    Avoid Irrelevant Details !

Write straight to the point and only the details relevant tothe job. (You don't need to include your family tree or

how many children you have or what your wife does.)

Do not write stereotype sentences like 'I am sincere, intelligent, hardworking' etc. That's childish. Who in this

world is not hardworking by the way?

    Use simple Language !

Use simple English. You don't need to write complexjargon in the resume.

Write the Crux of Projects !

Don't write all about your projects. That will make the resume very

lengthy. Write only the crux of the information. Following details

    would be enough.

Project Name, Team Size, Client Name, Duration ofProject.

Short description of project (Not more than 5 to 6 lines). Your role in project (This is very important). Technologies used in project.

You should convey where you want to work !Always include the following clearly in resume:

'Current Location' (mandatory). I have seen resumes inwhich there is no clue of where they are working

currently. How can they expect a call letter ?

'Desired Location' (if you have a preference). Anywayfreshers typically will not have a choice for the desired

location. They better not to include it.

    Experience !

Project Training done in your final academic year does notcome under professional work experience. You canmention it, but not under 'Work Experience' section.

Always highlight your onsite (customer interactionexperience) in your resume. That gives you an edge over

    others.

    Salary Details

Better not to include current & expected compensationdetails in resume. You can convey them when you are

asked to provide them during interview.

You are not submitting the application for matrimonial !

Do not include any photos in the resume unlessspecifically asked by the company.

You are not writing a love letter !

Avoid unwanted graphics: Either in resume or thecovering letter, avoid jazzy graphic images, emoticons or

    multiple colors.

Avoid jazzy fonts: Preferably use some professional font(Arial or Times or Verdana) and use the same across. Usesame font size across the resume (except for headings).

Don't write each line in a different font and size.

However, you can use some decent shades (preferablygray color), to highlight important information. That

makes the resume to look good when a printout is taken.

Take a print and see !

Take a printout of your resume and see. If you do not likeit in the first look, the same will be with recruiters. (I know

HR people who called candidates based on attractive

    resume.) So, revise it again.

SOME INTERVIEW PREPARATION GUIDELINES FOR FRESHERS

    Someresume writingtips

The first important thing isyour resumeshould not haveany grammatical or spelling mistakes. I see many resumes

without any proper alignment of the text. Use a good font

    and size.

For a fresher it is always must to mention theirpercentages in the resume. Some people mention only for

their highest degree and not for all. This is not acceptable

in most of the companies. Try to keep your highest degreeas the first in the table.

Your e-mail and phone number should be visible at firstsight. Please do not expect HR to search and find your

mail-id in the resume. Some people keep their mail-id in

the header of the doc. Try to avoid this practice. Double

check your mail-id and phone number before sending

    your resume

Save the mail in your sent items whenever you apply to acompany.

Do not apply to multiple companies in one mail. If youcannot avoid it at least use "BCC" instead of "To"

Do not keep your passport number in the resume, nobodywill ask for that.

Do not keep more than three pages in your resume. Make sure that your resume contains at least two very

good projects but do not keep more than three. Generally

two are enough. The more the projects you keep the

    more the questions you face.

    Preparation

    www.ChetanaS.com

You must be familiar with C, C++ and basic JAVA concepts

Following is the descending order of number questions from each

    subject interviewer will ask.

Data Structures (Very important) - Try to exercise simpleprograms on all types of data structures

Operating systems - Should be familiar with all basicconcepts and definitions, try to learn some OS algorithms

Computer Networks (TCP/IP, ISO-OSI, Congestion, etc...) DBMS (Basic definitions, Normalization with examples) Software Engineering (s/w paradigms, types of testing and

    its definition and SDLC)

Apart from the above you should exercise RS Agarwal Objective

Aptitude, Sukunthala Devi Puzzles and some math and English in

    old GRE book.

For a fresher no one will ask for J2EE, .NET and some other

software in the market. Once you are selected they will train you

according to their requirement. Please remove it from your resume

unless if you get a call based on those software.

    www.ChetanaS.com

    Interview

The most important thing is confidence. Just attend theinterview that you will get the job.

Be clear in your answers Ask twice if you are unable to understand the question Use paper if you are unable to explain. It is always easy

    explaining using a paper

If you do not know something, say frankly. But the answershould not be "NO" to basic questions.

Try to know about the company before attending theinterview.

If a company is working on networking concentrate moreon Computer networks and Data structures. You should

plan your preparation according to the area of working.

You should be very familiar with your projects. Please donot keep some application projects in your resume if you

are an engineer. This is ok for MCAs. Please keep in mind that interviewer does not know

anything about your projects, he will ask questions only

from your explanation. Be well prepared about your

    projects.

I have personally seen many resumes got rejected in mycompany even after they cleared the written test because

    of bad resume and projects.

For management and HR rounds you should exposeyourself that taking you into their company will be a big

    asset to them

Try to know about the company history, their area ofworking, no.of people, number of countries they work,

CEO of the company and etc... Everything is available in

    their web site.

I hope I am not wrong in the above points and will help at least one

fresher to get a job. Please let me know if someone wants very

clear info about the books to refer, topics to concentrate more and

any other doubts you have. I will try my best to answer you.

    www.ChetanaS.com

Do not keep hopes on trying on a fake experience; many

    companies started doing background verification...

You can work hard if you can just imagine software life, money and

comforts you are going to get...Interviewsare always simple it just

depends on how confident you are...

    Infosys Interview

    December 31, 2010 Category : Training & Placements

This is Devesh from Graphic Era Institute of Technology Dehradun,

    recently

    Infosys came to our

    college on Jan 13th 2010.

Around 385 students have appeared for the written test and 200

students got cleared their written test and 161 students finally

    selected for Infosys.

Friends just follow my suggestions you can easily crack the Infosysinterview. Luckily I also got selected in Infosys.

First of all they will go for PPT (Pre Placement Talk), in which they

will tell you about Infosys and your career growth. Ater that they

will make you sit in the classrooms and distribute HR forms, its

very easy and even self explanatory so fill it very carefully using

BLUE or BLACK BALL POINT PEN in BLOCK LETTERS. Dont bother

about this there will be people available from Infosys who will tell

you how to fill the form. ($TIP$ try fill this form quickly as they will

start the test in 10mins).There are 2 rounds in all.

    1)Written Test

a)Reasoning part (30 ques in 40 min) VERY EASY.

    i) Puzzle (5 ques). (Tough, attempt it at the last).

    ii) Data sufficiency (5 ques)

iii) Picture puzzle (5 ques). VERY EASY, start from this only.

    iv) Data Interpretation (5 ques)

    v) Syllogism (5 ques)

vi) Puzzle (5 ques). (Easy, generally on blood relation).

    b) Verbal part (40 ques in 35 min) TOUGH, TIME

    MANAGEMENT IS REQUIRED.

    i) 2 long reading comprehension (10 ques)

    ii) Sentence Completion (8 ques)

iii) Underlined part (i.e. sentence correction 8 ques)

iv) Re-phrasing part (i.e. sentence correction again 8 ques)

    v) Critical reasoning (6 ques)

First they will start with reasoning test, try to solve it in this order, first picture puzzle or DS or syllogism then DI then go for last

puzzle, and at last solve 1st puzzle. After 40 min they start

collecting reasoning question paper and will ask you start with

verbal test.In Verbal test NEVER start with RC, first try to solve

underlined part, re-phrasing part and sentence completion then

critical reasoning then RC. In this part time management is very

important. There is no negative marking so attempt all the

questions but dont mark same options f you are going for fluke,

because my friend lost due to this only. They dont check your copy

if they feel that you have marked fluke a lot. Then after 3 hrs the

names of those students who have cleared written

test was started to be called out. Then form 385 students, 200 got

selected for the HR Interview.HR round: the basic questions like

tell me about yourself, why Infosys, your family background n

questions based on your strengths, weakness n hobbies n final

year projects. No technical questions were being asked. Just

prepare for your hobbies n strengths properly, and you should

have examples to quote at that time. They can also ask you about

your final year project, you should have a good knowledge of it.

They also gave me puzzle whic I was not able to solve... but not to

worry... Even if you give a wrong answer, just explain them your

logic. And during whole interview try o smile n be confident n just

say AAL IS WELL when you start feeling nervous... ok. And at the

end they will ask you that if you want to ask any thing to them do

prepare 2 or 3 questions to ask them like what are the chances ofmy growth... or any such other questions... Friends I have taken

pain to write all these for you because I want you all to know... by

doing silly mistakes how we can lose a lot. Friends if any of You got

    INFOSYS TIPS & INFO - JUN 2003

SOME TIPS AND INFO ABOUT INFOSYS PREP...

    Hi Chetanaites

Infosys tests arent very difficult. but they require some amount of

preparation. all the sums are based onfundamentalclass 10-12

    concepts. very simple speed

    distance problems.

u need to follow the foll. books. these 3 books are more than

    sufficient.

    1. PUZZLES TOPUZZLEYOU - By SHAKUNTALA DEVI

    q.no. :

    2,3,11,12,17,23,27,37,38,45,51,63,66,108,117,124,128,130,145,14

    8

    2. MORE PUZZLES - By SHAKUNTALA DEVI

    q.no. : 193,221,244,275

    3. GEORGE SUMMERS BOOK

starte with the puzzles to puzzle book importance to each andevery question. genrally problems having comaplex figures and 2-

    page questions will not be

asked. u need to give importance to the questions ive listed above.

more or less these questions are reframed or the same concepts

are tested. initially when one starts preparing he may find it very

difficult. but i guess it wud be only a starting problem. one shudnt

get demoralised by this starting problem. u can always refer to the

solutions (only after having tried ur best at solving them w/o help).

at times the solutions may also sound a lil greek and latin, but u

need to spend time on it... u shud know this book in and out.

SPEED PROBLEMS, TRAIN PROBLEMS, SIMPLE PROBABILITY AND

    PERMU-COMBI problems are frequent.

once ur thro with PUZZLES TO PUZZLE YOU - By SHAKUNTALA DEVI

u canmove overto MORE PUZZLES - By SHAKUNTALA DEVI. most

of the problems here are repeated or rephrased from (PUZZLES TO

    PUZZLE YOU - By

    SHAKUNTALA DEVI).

then u can use the GEORGE SUMMERS BOOK. try working out a 2-3

problems from the GRE BARRONS book - analytical section - the

ones with 4 subdivisions. - any person who has taken up his/her

GRE can easily help u loacte such questions in the book. these are

very simple questions. they dont involve much time or thinking.

and these always feature in ur test. they are generally with 4subdivisions carrying 8 marks on the whole.

after all this is over u can move over to THE QUESTION papers.

start off with the latest available papers and then move on to the

old ones. u have plenty of them

put up on the yahoo groups. . once ur thro with 4-5 papers itself,

u'd have a clear idea of what problems are asked and what fundas

    are tested.

but REMEMBER NEVER START OFF WITH THE QUESTION PAPERS,

    it will never help.

take the exam witha cool-head. FAALTU KA TENSION will never

help u. u shud be able to time urself. initially scan the paper, if u

come acros any stereo type problem just finish it off phat-a-phat. it

wudboostur confidence. then approach the rest proble.s dont get

stuck anywhere. MBA aspirants (ppl who have given CAT and mock

cats) wud have an edge in this paper timing stuff..

    Hi Chetanaites

this is abhishek and here are tips to crack infosys test

    1. Study hard these books: more puzzles, puzzles to puzzle u and

george summeres puzzles and teasers. Also solve infosys papers uget onwww.chetanasinterview.com

    2. The questions come from shakuntala devi are esy and for less

    marks

    3. The questions come from george summeres are for higher mark

    and hard

    4. The test is of 50+50 marks

    50 for aptitude and

    50 for english

    5. Time is total 90 min60 for aptitude 10 questions

    30 for english 50 or 30 questions

    6. first u get aptitude paper and when time finishes they take the

q.paper and give the english q.paper

    7. The main thing u must do is

if u are less in time

i just failed because of time gamble

    10 Day Guide To Infosys

    Hello Chetanaites,

I am a fresher who just finsiehd my final year B.Tech Information

Technology. Being fully prepared for the selection test for Infy on

June 19th, and with God's grace I was able to get an appointment

Order form Infosys. I would like to give back to the group the 10

day schedule that i followed, which may be of use in CRACKING the

Infy test. If 10 days arent there for you, then you coudl leve out the

days that i have used for Ravi Narula and the quantitaive Aptitude.

That would bring down the number of days to 7 or 8. You need to

manage your time very effeciently. Spend your itme in studying,

and prayers. Prayers do help a lot .

Usually when you register with Infosys, you would get a mail

atleast 10 to 12 days before the written test either by email, or by

Post. Let us keep this as 10 days. Before we start off, three rules

    must be kep in mind.

FIRST RULE : While job hunting , check your mail on a daily basis, so

that you dont get delayed info regarding test or other such details .

Even the appointment order comes by email.

SECOND RULE : Once you do receive the intimating or hall ticket,

check for the following books. Not all chapters need to be followed

in each book and i have given the need ones in the daily schedule .

    (1) Puzzles toPuzzleyou - Shakuntala Devi (very Important)

    (2) More Puzzles - Shakuntala Devi (very Important)

    (3) Puzzles and Teasers - George Sammers (very very Important)

    (4) Brain Teasers - Ravi Narula (Optional, but few old sums are

    here)

    (5) Quantitative Aptitude - R.S Agarwal ( Important)

    (6) Verbal Reasoning - R.S Agarwal (very very Important)

    (7) Previous Papers - ChetanaSinterview.com, KoolKampus.com,

    Mail me for more (Important)

THIRD RULE : YOU must forget all your previosu failures and start

afresh with firm determination and enthusiasm. Once you do this,

solving puzzles become easy . I solved 9 out of 10 puzzles.

Concentrate on the bigger puzzles first . This may be the way the

    marks are distributed:

8 marks and 6 marks - George Sammers and Verbal Reasoning(R.S Agarwal)

4 marks and 5 marks and 3 makrs - Shakuntala Devi books

    and

Ravi Narula and Quantitative Aptitude(R.S Agarwal)

    Some questions from Previous Papers

Now lets start of with the schedule :

DAY 1 : Start off with Puzzles to Puzzle you - Shakuntala Devi and

finish as mush as possible.Decide to only finish the book and call

the day off. Note down the sums which you are not able to solve or

need the answers to solve and keep this list safely. After you go

through the whole book, go back to thses questions and just check

out the way they are solced. Sometimes they will not be explained.

In this case you have no choice but to leave them. But some sums

will have some funny explanations.Just rememeber the way or

    method.

DAY 2 : Now take a break off from Shakuntala Devi and then start

Verbal Reasoning - R.S Agarwal . In this you just have to do the

Puzzle Test Chapter fully , and have a look at the Number, Ranking

andSequenceTest chapter. I contains fully George Sammers type

question on easier scale but you woudl be able to uderstand the

basic logic of solving George Sammers type questions. Finish off

the whole book during the second day. There is just one or twomethods to solve these sort of questions and the explanation is

    very clear .

Once you get the method , you can solve al the puzzles in this, but

just in case do go through all the puzzles. there have been puzzles

in previous papers from here.Once ou get the method well, there

will not be any revision necessary in this book . But you will have to

    concentrate on the method.

DAY 3 : Now back to More Puzzles - Shakuntala Dei and follow the

same procedure you followed for the first book.

DAY 4 and DAY 5: Get your George Sammers book and start off

solving the puzzles. The first half is kind of easy, btu dont be

worried if your not able to solve much. Even one or two is enough .

The Rest, you just have to use the scheme and the solutions and

then understand the puzzle thoroughly. Many papers have similar

sums with the names changed. Try to finish the first half in a day .

And start off the second half . The second half is relatively tougher,

    and it

will be very confusing. Just try to solve some. The second half, even

the solutions will confuse you more. So just solve as many as you

can. The rest you can make use of the soultions . If they are too

complex, Leave them aside. Note down all sums you could not

solve or could solve only using the solutions and list them . When

you are through the whole book, just revise all the sums, giving

preference to the ones that you have listed . It si okay even if yousit with George Sammers for three days. But you must fully be able

to undertsand all the question in the First part. The second part,

atleast maybe few sums are optional.

DAY 6 : Take your quantitative Aptitude book by R.S Agarwal and

work out the following chapters fully. Note down tough sums and

their solutions and come back to solve thme and revise them. The

chapters to be done are :

    (1) Time andDistance(very important)

    (2) Time and Work

    (3) Pipes and Cisterns

    (4) Trains

    (5) Boats

DAY 7 : Revise Shakuntala Devi book-1 and revise it well. Not

necessary to wokr out the porblems. Just check if your method is

correct . The sums you have listed, give them extra importance. By

the end of this day , you must Shakuntala Devi book-1(Puzzles to

Puzzle you ) on your finger tips.

DAY 8 : Revise the book-2 of Shakuntala Devi , just how you revised

the first book.End of this day you shoudl ahve both Shakuntala devi

    books at your finger tips.

DAY 9 : Revise George Sammers, such that you can easily solve thewhole first part . The second part , leave ii , if it is tough.

DAY 10 : Check out Ravi Narula. The sums are very tough . It will be

enough if you just c the solutions and understand them . Some

sums are asked in some papers.( There is one questin abt some

ANYMAN reaching ANYWHERE. His tyre gets punctured and he

reaches late. If his tyre got punctured earlier / later then he would

have reached earlier/later. How far did he travel..soemthing like

that).that is form this book . Many papers have this sum repeated.

But the names are changed. Ravi Narula is just optional, but I

    suggest that you go

through all sums and their solution atleast once.Dont take too

    much

time on Ravi Narula. Just three or four hours would be sufficient.

    Lastly, Check out old papers.

INTERVIEW : Interview is Casual. If you have done excellently well

in the test , your interview process is very simple and a

walkthrough if you have good communication skills ( Speak clearly,

MAILS IN THE GROUP ONLY. FOR 3-4 QUESTIONS ONLY I HAVE

FOUND THE ANSWER WITH THE HELP OF MY TEACHERS. SO KEEP

IN MIND THAT THESE ANSWERS MAY NOT BE 100% CORRECT. TRY

    TO SOLVE IT YOURSELF.

    1. You are given two candles of equal size, which can burn 1 hour

each. You have to measure 90 minutes with these candles. (There

is no scale or clock). Also u r given a lighter.

Ans: 1. First light up the two ends of the 1st candle. When it will

burn out light up one end of the second candle. (30+60=90)

    2. Try the similar problem to measure 45 minutes.

Ans: First light-up the two ends of the 1st candle and one end ofthe 2nd candle.

When the 1st candle will burn out ,then light up the both ends of

    the 2nd candle (15+30=45)

    3. You r given a thermometer. What can u do by this without

    measuring the temperature?

Ans: if u put thermometer into a tree it won't grow anymore, will

    just die off

    4. How it is possible to place four points that are equidistance from

    each other?OR

U r a landscape designer and your boss asked u to design a

landscape such that you should place 4 trees equidistance from

    each other.

(Distance from each tree to the other must be same)

Ans: Only 3 points can be equidistant from each other. But if u

Ans: Drag one piece of material over another. There is no

attractive force in the middle portion of the magnet. OR

Get a piece of thread and tie up with the one bar and check for

poles. If it iron bar then it moves freely and if it is magnetic barthen it fix in one direction according to poles.

    7. If one tyre of a car suddenly gets stolen.... and after sometime u

find the tyre without the screws how will u make ur journey

complete? Ans: Open 3 screws, 1 from each tyre and fix the tyre.

    humidity, wind etc.

    9. What is the height of room if after entering the room with a

watch ur head strikes a hanging bulb?

Ans: Oscillate the hanging bulb. Calculate the time period for one

complete oscillation by Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) of the

    handing bulb. Put it in the formula T=2 * 3.14 * (L/G)^1/2

L will be the length of the hanging thread.Add the L with ur height

to get the height of the room.

ORAns: Drop it from the room and find the time at which it strikes

the floor. Usingphysicsformula s = (at^2)/2 (IM NOT SURE ABOUT

    THIS ONE)

    16.5 swimmers A, B, C, E, F and many conditions of their positions

like there are Two b/w A & F, B doesn't win etc the question was to

    find who was b/w like E & D? Ans:

    17. in a race u drove 1st lap with 40kmph and in the second lap at

what speed u must drive so that ur average speed must be

80kmph. Ans: its impossible! if u drove the first lap in 40 kmph, its

    impossible that the

average speed of both the laps is 80kmph.

for eg. consider one lap distance = 80km.time req. to cover 1 lap = 80km/40kmph = 2 hrs.

if the avg. speed is 80kmph, then the total time would have taken

    = 160kms/80kmph = 2 hrs.

same is the case with any other distance u consider. so the avg to

    be 80kmph is impossible

1)Sam and Mala have a conversation. Sam says I am certainly not over 40

Mala says I am 38 and you are atleast 5 years older than me

Now Sam says you are atleast 39

All the statements by the two are false. How old are they really?

Answer Sam is 41 and Mala is 37.

Let's invert the teaser and read it like this :

Sam says I am certainly over 40

Mala says I am not 38 and you are atmost 4 years older than

    me

Now Sam says you are atmost 38

From first statement it is clear that Sam is over 40. Also, from next

2 statements it is clear that Mala is less then 38. Hence the

    possibilities areSam = 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, ...... Mala = 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, ......

It also says that the difference between their age is maximum 4

years. Hence, there is only one possible pair i.e. 41 and 37, all

other combination have differences more then 4.

Hence the answer - Sam is 41 and Mala is 37.
