Network Operating Systems Technology Group designs and develops high-performance system softwarefor various Cisco Platforms which includes Enterprise Switching & Routers, Datacenter Switches, Service

Provider Routing Platforms.

Our Team develops the Complete Network Operating Software stack right from Core OS, to System

Infrastructure to Network Protocols and Application Software and works in close collaboration with

Platform development teams to enable the OS on the existing and future platforms.

This group's ownership also spans Core Operating System Blocks, Network/System Infrastructure

technologies including Debug-ability, Packaging, Modularity, InService Software Upgrade (ISSU), Logical

Routers and Manageability aspects of Operating System Software.

We require creative and talented engineers with experience in developing high-quality networking

products on schedule, with strong communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for innovation. In

this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, as well as maintaining

existing features and areas.

IPL specific hiring description:

The Foundation Engineering Infrastructure Services Team is looking for a software engineer/Technical

Lead to join our Digital Signing and Installation, ISSU (aka High Availability) Licensing development team.

What do we do?

Upgrade or downgrade of distributed systems (think 16-32 node clusters) isnt as simple as your

PC/mobile S/W upgrade...you need to orchestrate the boot time, performance, security aspects ofupgrading

1.  the entire system or

2.  individual nodes or

3.  process in a node

without impacting the forwarding ASIC/FPGA (less than 6 seconds of downtime tolerated

This team is responsible for the software monetization , installation, ISSU and digital signing

infrastructure for the XR, Nexus, Nova and IOS operating systems running on a 90% + of CISCO

Platforms

What is expected of you

In this role, you will contribute to all aspects of software development. This

includes reviewing product requirements, contributing to product architecture

and design,writing functional and design specifications, implementing code, performing unit and

integration testing, and contributing to our sustaining effort

You will closely collaborate with development test teams and other peer/client

groups in an agile development environment.

You will develop and support software for the XR, Nexus, Nova and IOS OSes.

Observability/AMP specific hiring description

Experience in implementation in any of the below mentioned areas

1.  Manageability components such as SNMP, CLI/XML, Alarm mgmt, Performance mgmt, Configuration

management etc

2. 

Observability components such as Memory Leak detection, Logging, Tracing, Crashinfo, Packet analyzeretc

FE + Amp Skills Required:

We are looking for a self motivated, highly productive team player that possesses excellent

communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a geographically distributed

team.Creativity,

innovation, adaptability and a strong quality focus are required. A strong background in software design,

documentation, implementation and testing is required.

Strong C programming skills and experience developing software for IOS and/or Linux is required.

Expectation

Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7+ years of related experience, or

BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.
