DESCRIPTION

Beijing Guoson Centre Category: Transit Orientated Development Country: China Year of Completion: 2008 Client: Guocoland (China) Limited Size: 538,330sqm Work Scope: Partial Architectural Services Beijing Guoson Centre is conceptualised as a ‘collection of treasures’, or precious gems strung together due to its range of functional programs – a transport interchange, retail mall, five-star luxury hotel, two office towers and residential apartments. The retail podium unifies the development, comprising the South and North retail complexes. These envelop a well-landscaped central court on the podium roof deck level. Thematically, the facades of the South Retail complex and the twin towers are designed to emulate jewels through glazed onyx panels and windows tilted at various angles respectively. The development’s focus is the luxury hotel – the ‘Crown Jewel’. A well-proportioned façade recalls the intricacies of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, expressed with present day architectural elements resulting in an elegant and timeless expression. High quality finishes on the exteriors and interiors reflect its refined nature. The residential apartment block lies adjacent to the luxury hotel. One side faces an urban edge, the other an internal landscape court. The urban ‘front’ is modern and sleek responding to its urban condition; the internal façade seeks tranquillity. This is achieved by the central contemporary landscaped court on the podium deck. The architecture of these apartments in nature-inspiring to bring warmth into the urban centre, the highlight being the rooftop all-season conservatory gardens. - PowerPoint PPT Presentation

Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. The 2km-long site is located some distance north of downtown Singapore on what was primarily marshland. The buildings on the site include a main depot, an administration building that houses a training school, a fixed installations workshop (with full overhaul facilities), train wash buildings, a control tower and numerous utility structures.

The design of the buildings attempts to strike a balance with the aesthetics of the trains they serve. An insulated metal sandwich panel is used throughout as a cladding material, thereby affording a clean, uncluttered and low maintenance finish. The 10m-long panels are large but lightweight, and are mounted on steel supports. Built at the start of construction of the Singapore MRT system, DP Architects pioneered this facility in collaboration with engineering consultants Electrowatt and rail consultants DE-Consult (now DB International). It was the first such facility in the Singapore metro network.

Designed as the dedicated home of the bi-annual Asian Aerospace exhibition and air show. The Changi Exhibition Centre comprises permanent buildings and temporary structures. The main exhibition hall is the most dominant of the permanent structures and also the nucleus of the development. The temporary elements consist of the exhibitors’ chalets, entrance canopy and tents provided for use by organisers and sponsors, as well as concession stands. The planning of these elements is driven by the need to achieve efficiency of workflow, clarity in layout of functional components, good segregation of traffic circulation routes, good security control and flexibility of the grounds for public use during non-exhibition periods.

The landscape design gives the exhibition grounds a park-like environment integrated with the adjacent coastal park. The unique structural system is designed for efficiency and services are zoned to optimise distribution.  For More Info Visit: DP Infrastructure - Projects
