PREFACE
The Video English series is the result of years of work by a team of
researchers and writers who have been studying and making use of the latest
developments in teaching English as a foreign language. The series has been
carefully planned and organized so as to guide students to an active assimilation
of natural, everyday American English. Students learn both spoken and written
English and the appropriate language for different situations: the formal speech
used with strangers and the informal speech used with friends. They become
acquainted with American language and culture throuqh the study of newspaper
articles, TV programs and commercials.
The Video English series includes separate courses for children,
teenagers, and adults.
Thomas Edward Hasek and H. Paige Graham served as full-tirne
English Language Consultants for the Video English series. Mr. Hasek
received Master's Degrees from the University of Missouri and Indiana
University. Mr. Graham received his Master's Degree from the University
of South Florida.
PROGRAM 1
Proqrarn 1 - Regular Course is the first book in the Video English series
for teenagers and is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of
English.
Students learn lhe grammar, structures and vocabulary of practical
American English through real-life situation dialogues. These dialogues serve
as the basis for subsequent classroom work and present everyday situations,
such as going out with friends, organizing parties and outdoor activities.
Program 1 contains 612 new words.
