Lebanon Bishop Michel Kassargy, cele-brated mass in Saint Raphael Cathedral in Baabda. The Chaldean Bishop affirmed that the current persecution is a crime against God and humanity. And prayers rose from the different parishes for the sake of the Christians in Mossul. For its part, the Lebanese Parliament held a meeting of solidarity with Gaza and Mossul. The representatives of the parliamentary blocs took the floor stressing on the fact that those wars are a crime against humanity

and are the expression of a renewed scheme prepared for the region long ago, pointing to the bustling si-lence and the painful complicity common to the two cases.

Iraq In response to the appeal of Pope Francis, the parish of Saint Joseph for the Syriac Catholics in Mansour – Iraq, held an evening prayer with the relics of Saint John Paul II. Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch

“It is of our concern to stress that the difficult situation in the East does not justify that some seize the circumstances as a “Trojan horse”, in order to empty the East from its Christians and to de-scribe what the Christians are suffering as similar to what is happen-ing in other parts of the world against religious or ethnical minori-

ties. We believe, that helping people in the East, Christians and Muslims lies first in uprooting terrorism in its cradle and in stopping to nurture the extremist and takfir movements.”

The French government declared its readiness to facilitate granting the Iraqi Christians asylum on its territory, whereas the Vatican provided economic assistance to the families through the pontifical commission “Cor Unum” with the aim of meeting the humanitarian needs.

The Christians of Mosul in Heart

Under this theme, Tele Lum-iere General Director Jacques Kallassi launched a speech on TV, within the framework of the campaign broadcast by our channel in solidarity with Mosul’s Christians. So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and af-flicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job

took a piece of broken pottery and scraped him-self with it as he sat among the ashes. His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integ-rity? Curse God and die!” He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. (Job 2: 7-10)

- Do not search for a badge of honor but for peace.

- Do not count on literalism but on artisanship - Do not rely on courage but on mission. - Do not rely on hatred for its fire burns, but in light of love that is constructive.

From Jerusalem, a call to a ceasefire The Patriarchs and head of Churches in Jerusalem called in statement for an immediate ceasefire in Ghaza district, point-ing out in the situation that is horribly deteriorating, causing human crisis. They requested an urgent resume of peace, and urged the United Nations to interfere and stop the pointless cycle of violence and bloodshed. They also called to lift completely the siege over Ghaza and proceed with the peace process based on the international precept.

Australia The priests in the Maronite Diocese in Australia viewed the aim behind what is happening in Iraq, as emptying the country and the East from their original populations, particularly the

Christians. They appealed to the states and the international community to leave no stone unturned in order to stop the persecution. Then, they dedicated Sunday, on the 3rd of August to pray in all the parishes within the dio-cese and to raise funds to the afflicted families.

Belgium A mass was celebrated in the Church of Saint Anthony of Pa-dova for the intention of the Christians in the East, particularly in Iraq and Syria. The pastor of the Church, Mgr Boniface called the faithfull to hold on to Christ’s commandment, to commit themselves to unity and solidarity and not be driven by bigotry and backwardness. Then he thanked the Patriarchs of the East for their efforts to remedy the crisis.

France “France, you should look to Iraq where people are dying under your eyes.” Parliamentarians, religious people and faithful gathered in front of Notre Dame de Paris Cathe-dral raising the said slogan, in support of the Christians of the East who are facing threat coming from Islamists mili-tants. The diocese of Lyon had staged a peaceful solidarity rally

and a delegation representing the Council of Catholic Bishops of France had visited Iraq and met the displaced families to pray with them and encourage them.

Syria The priests and bishops of Homs pointed out to the fact that “displacing people on religious ground, should they be Christians or Muslims, is a crime against humanity that requires accountability against its perpetrators. Words of solidarity are not enough, instead Christians’ rights must be guaran-teed, for them to remain in their land and enjoy protection and get all their needs to have a decent life.”
