COMESA STATISICS UNIT• In line with the goal of COMESA of
increasing trade (Volume and value) among its member states, COMESA’s small Statistics unit was tailored to measure the achievement of COMESA strategic objective
• Has been compiling merchandise trade data to measure trade among its member states
• Measuring the flow of trade of various commodities among its member countries & the outside world.

COMESA’s mandate on Peace & Security
COMESA, an organization that thrives to accomplish regional trade integration for its member countries, has come to realize that without sustainable peace, the regional trade integration agenda will struggle to fully meet its targets since priorities and resources shift once a country is absorbed in conflict.

COMESA CONFLICT EARLY WARNING SYSTEM (COMWARN)
Developing and early warning system intended to assist COMESA forestall conflicts at a very early stage possible
Intended to add value to the Continental Early warning System
Focusing on identifying and addressing structural factors by use of historical data
Developing an index which we shall call COMESA peace prosperity index as our target variable
COMESA CONFLICT EARLY WARNING SYSTEM (COMWARN)
As a first step, conducted conflict vulnerability assessments in all COMESA19 Member States
Met with a selected group of Experts to review the reports an identify the indicators
A group of 78 indicators identified
