Injury Recording Costs in US – Under Estimated

4

How much time and money do employers spend completing the OSHA injury and illness log and providing data to OSHA each year?

Quite a lot: 2,967,237 hours and $136,753,120 are the costs estimated by OSHA assuming 2 hours per injury form

OSHA does not account for time required for the investigation to determine if and when an injury is recordable

OSHA recording is separate and different from worker's compensation recording

Time to collect person-hours worked and other data are not included in OSHA estimate

Time to fill out employer’s injury forms is not included
