– Higher demands from Mozambique regarding minimum flows at border
• Water stress – huge risk for agriculture & other sectors

• Rhodes University • Development of Water Quality Management Framework• Developed a stakeholder platform for sharing interests on
a common pool and planning together to achieve common interest.
• Developed a model to determine the waste load against interim water quality objectives and currently in the testing phase.
• The model will assist transparent and collective decision making as stakeholders for stakeholder’s collective benefit.
• It has brought diverse stakeholders together to manage water quality.

• PSP - Development and implementation of pro-active acid mine drainage strategy.
• Pro-active AMD task team has been established with buy in from stakeholders (mining houses, authorities and NGOs).
• Sharing of information from various mining houses - prevention of mining related pollution, and plans to address decants.
