Letter from the Editor ... with Cathy Obright

A lot has changed since I first

walked into Unity over three yearsago. During this time Ive met a lot ofwonderful people, and said good-byeto a few.

Ive seen the number and variety ofprograms that we offer increase, andIve even taken part in a few! AndIve even seen our church itself growwhen we built the door and started touse the ofces next door!

This newsletter has also seen plenty

of change. We have had the benet ofhaving many wonderful writers sharetheir viewpoints and humour with us.Various editors have left their stampon both the content and the design.

And we have gone from black andwhite to colour and back again.

Well, it is time for this newsletterto undergo another change. Afterthinking long and hard I have decided

that it is time for me to step down aseditor of the Inner Spark.I have enjoyed my time creating this

newsletter and Ive worked with somegreat people since the May/June 2010issue. But it is time to hand over thereins to another editor who can bringtheir vision and enthusiasm to the

job; who can create an even greaternewsletter for you.

Of course, I cant leave without sayingthank you to: Rev. Lori, CourtneyRose, and now Megan for your helpand support. I couldnt have done iwithout you.

Thanks, too, to all of the contributorsfor the time and effort they put in tobringing this newsletter, and our churchto life through their words; and to PaMoauro for taking over designing thelayout for the newsletter. You denitely

    made my life easier!

And nally, thank you to all of youwho have read this newsletter duringthe past two years. It is your supporthat makes Unity the wonderful placeit is! - Cathy

    NOTE: Effective with the September

    October issue, Pat Moauro wil

assume the Editors duties, in addition

Spiritually Speaking ... with Rev. Lori Hisson

    Rev. Lori

    Minister and Spiritual Leader

think prosperity is what makes yourheart sing. For you, is that a deeperrelationship with God, more money,a new partner, a better relationship,a new home, new job, a summerholiday?

Whatever it is you can achieve it.Everything begins in consciousnessand prayer is a good place to start.

In the book, How to Pray WithoutTalking to God, Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett writes, the issue has neverbeen whether prayer is answered-

how we live is the issue and the

answer. We are the answer to our

prayers as we realize prayer is not

a plea for a particular outcome but

a calling upon ourselves to realize

what we are to be in a circumstance.

Rev. Gaines class helps us toknow what we are called to be.

A big part of prosperity, I believe, isgratitude. I wrote about that in ourlast issue. Sufce to say, this summer

lets be grateful for everything: forthe hot summer days, the crowded, loud and energetic festivals of whichLondon has an abundance; thefamily get-togethers, and our Unitychurch too.

This church offers a God of love, not judgment. We offer messages ofacceptance and encourage you to letgo of fears that block your growth.

    We teach about your magnicence

as a beautiful expression of the

This summer is a great time tocome dressed in your shorts to ourair conditioned sanctuary and beblessed by a special videotapedclass.

In January, one of my prosperityheroes, Rev. Edwene Gaines, offered her Four Spiritual Laws

of Prosperity class at MichaelBeckwiths church in California.

Unity of London will be showingit here for you to view. It will trulymove you to the next level on yourprosperity journey. We are offeringit in the evening, morning andafternoon for a variety of chances foryou to view it. Please read further inthis newsletter for a fuller description.

    Here are the dates:Thursday July 5, 1 - 3:30 p.m.Saturday July 14, 9:30 - noonJuly 19 1-3:30 p.m. and 6 - 8:30 p.m.

Prosperity means so many thingsand there are as many denitions

for it as there are people. I like to

divine. You were born as an originablessing.

Unity offers practical, spirituateachings that empower abundantand meaningful living. If you havebeen turned off church, give Unity achance. We are different. We areempowering. We are Unity.

And wed love to welcome you into

this dynamic spiritual communityCongregants, bring your friends todiscover what youve discovered.

And for strangers our door is asafe and loving threshold to cross.

JULY already?! Why does Mayto September go by faster thanOctober to May?

Some of you may already knowthat my mums 100th birthdaywas May 12th and she made hertransition on May 18th. I wouldlike to send my heart-felt gratitudeto everyone who held us in prayer

    and attended her funeral.

Your Energy and knowing Mumhad met her goal of receiving hercongratulations from The Queenand was in a much better realm, kept me at peace.

Finding the energy to write for ournext newsletter was eluding me.

All I could reect on was the past

two weeks. Then I remembered theprayers that were held for my familyand that two of my Unity friendsshared their experience of Mumsservice with me.

    A p i n k o r b w a sseen preceding the family into

the chapel and rested at the altarwhere her cremated ashes lay. Then, during the service, theoutlines of three spirits wereseen next to my sister and me atthe front pew. I am so grateful forthose messengers of Mums spirit.

I went to the shelves of ourBookstore and found Orbs;Their mission and messages

of hope by Heinemann andHeinemann. As I reviewed thepages, this jumped out: Is i tpossible that these Spirit Beingsare present because they actuallyhelp with the healing?

Then I googled pink orb and

learned that the colour of an orbcomes from the deceased at thetime of death. Pink means lovingand openness. Then from thebook,How Far to Heaven? by ClaraCurtis, this poem spoke to me:

    Forever and always, inside, al

    around,

    Heaven is everywhere heaven is

    found.

Listen with glad ears; see withloves eyes,

Give wings to your heart and

    cherish the prize!

Forever and always we dance to

    the sound,

    For heaven is everywhere heaven

    is found.

This summer, watch for KarenDruckers newest release TheCall.

Be safe and enjoy the warmweather because it wont last aslong as the cold weather will.

    In Love and Light,

Pink orb at uneral seen as a message o hope, healing

Award-winning author Bev Irwin uses Unity principles

Bev Irwin of London wih her latest novel at Chapters book signing. Atleast three more of her books are to be released this year.

Award-winning authorBev Irwin saysUnity principles have helped her in herwriting and in her life.

They have given me inner peace,Bev says about the Unity principlesand ideas she has been learning andpracticing since rst being introduced

to Unity of London by ClaudetteFoy in 2000. Ive learned not to be

    judgmental.

A Registered nurse at VanierChildrens Services since October2006, Bev has nurtured and developeda love for writing since she rst started

to write poetry and short stories as achild. In the 1990s when she broke herright hand while trying to get a horseon a trailer, she had six months off hernursing job. That gave her the timeshe needed to get serious about herction writing, starting with a Harlequin

    Romance and books for children.

Her discipline and persistence inwriting consistently at her computer inbetween her regular work as a nurse

are starting to show positive results. Her years of writing have produceda prodigious flow of books beingpublished and coming out this year.

She won second place for two ofher early novels, When Hearts Collide(written under a pen name, KendraJames) and Family Secrets in theGateway to the Best contest. Shealso won second place in the TARA(another book writing contest) for

Missing Clayton, a suspense novelfor women, and forGhostly Justice, ayouth novel, published this year.

In early June, Bev was seated ata table at Chapters on WellingtonRoad South, signing copies of herbook, Ghostly Justice. She sold 20

copies in one evening. Later, she alsosigned copies of her book at Colesand Chapters at Masonville.

Bev is looking forward to seeingthree more of her novels beingreleased this year Missing Claytonon July 28, Without Consent, October28, and In My Fathers Footsteps bythe end of the year. As she continuesto tap out novels on her computer, Bev

    has some other goals.

I see myself travelling to Tuscany

    and France, she muses.

Oh yes, shes also looking for thatspecial man to travel with.

Judging from her success to dateshe will undoubtedly accomplish herother goals. - Pat Moauro
