Innovation activity in Russia in the field of science, technique and

technology

Presented to AchemAsia 2010 8th International Exhibition-Congress onChemical Engineering and Biotechnology

Beijing, People's Republic of China,1 - 4 June 2010

I would like to inform you about Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of principal nuclide data acquisition and evaluation for the purpose of development of wall-type charts of the nuclides. Any chart comprises 9 nuclear characteristics for about 3880 nuclides recommended by international and national organizations (data evaluated using ENSDF and standard reference data from IAEA, Russia, Japan and China). We published two Nuclide Guides in Russia in English and Russian (1995 and 2002), one Nuclide Guide in China - in English, Russian and Chinese (2004), and one in Russia (2010). The wall-type Charts of the Nuclides were prepared and issued in 1995, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010.

We would like you to consider the chance of cooperation and invite all the countries to join our project taking into account the experience gained by many countries in development of wall-type charts of the nuclides. We hope that the forthcoming issue of the wall-type Chart of the Nuclides prepared by specialists from various countries will be considered as a good exemplar of international cooperation in the field of peaceful utilization of nuclear data not only in nuclear science, technique and technology, but in the field of space, environment, medicine, agriculture and so on. Nuclear engineering in medicine provides unique possibilities for diagnostics.

The Scientific Data Center issued also Periodic

Table of Elements (2008) involving physical

characteristics and properties of chemical elements

(authors Golashvili T.V. and Demidov A.P.). The

Table includes such characteristics as atomic

number, mass number, relative atomic mass,

oxidation state, electron configuration, nuclide

abundance, half-life for stable and natural isotopes

of 112 elements.

New versions of the Nuclide Guide (NG) and International Chart of the Nuclides (ICN) have been developed as a result of Russian-Chinese collaboration. As compared to previous versions of NG and ICN – 2006 new evaluated information has been included in the NG and ICN -2010 from the publications as follows: 1) Nuclear Data Sheets, volumes 107 – 110, 2) Monographie BIPM-5, Table of Radionuclides, 2006, 3) Monographie BIPM-5, Table of Radionuclides, 2008. In addition, average radiation energies for 500 radionuclides having half-lives in the range of about 1 hour and more were re-calculated by the authors to be included in the Nuclide Guide-2010.

The International Chart of the Nuclides has been developed taking into account the added and revised information from the Nuclide Guide-2010. The recommended and standard nuclear data from NG and ICN are not used only in nuclear science and technology but also in the space, medicine, agriculture, environmental protection etc. As for the International Chart of the Nuclides, each information box contains the information as follows: nuclide symbol and corresponding mass number; excess of mass; spin of a nucleus ground state; half-life; decay modes; decay energy; average radiation energies; energies of the most intensive radiation components; thermal neutron activation cross section.

The following substances and materials are developed:

Zirconium, calcium, rear earth elements.Hyperpure materials (for example, xenon for the

medical purposes, semi-conductor materials having the minimized or preset contents of impurity).

Flouride containing compounds being a part of the uranium enrichment process cycle at Kirovo-Chepetsk chemical plant (the Kirov region) could be used and for other purposes.

Mineral fertilizers.

The innovation activity:First of all in medicine for beam therapy and diagnostics.In light and food-processing industry for disinfection and

sterilization of the manufacturable products.In housing services or in harmful manufacturing for a filtration,

purification and separation of substances (development of track membranes in Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna).

And also, devices for detection of nuclear and radioactive materials, for example, for customs and check points.

Besides it is necessary to pay attention on use of achievements of nuclear instrument making and mechanical engineering in other sectors of the industry, for example, in a fuel and energy complex, heavy mechanical engineering, electronic industry.

NEW MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR GASES AND LIQUIDS

FILTRATION

12

The paper discuses materials and methods for filtering gases and liquids. Presented are performance of such filters and filtering materials as grain filters, based on ceramic and metal granules; silica fabric; synthetic fiber, based on polyethylene and polypropylene; glass paper; glass, carbon - graphite, composition materials and cermets; permeable metal fiber material; polynuclear membranes, based on lavsan, polypropylene and other polymers.

13

Our methods will provide filtration from suspended particles with sizes of 0,001 - 100 m and more, within a range of working temperatures from cryogenic to 600 °C, with efficiency from 60 to 99,999999 % of the following gases and liquids:

metal melts;

sewage;

technological sewage;

drink, distilled and deionized water;

wine, juices, milk and other drinks;

biological solutions;

blood;

petroleum products;

liquid polymers;

aggressive technological liquids;

air and technological gases;

aggressive very clean substances for microelectronics.

NEW MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR GASES AND LIQUIDS FILTRATION

14

ASPECT Association and КОNТЕК Fund may make any production plant in any industry ecologically clean. Please pay attention to the plan. It illustrates filtration materials and methods developed.

We are ready to meet your requirements from conducting research and development work to introducing ready made technologies, filtration systems and methods ordered. Systems for the collection and return (recycling) of a filtered substance at a working volume, will allow an increased coefficient of substance use (from 30 to 70 %). Besides, we are developing complicated fillers with sorbents applicable in any field.

FILTRATION MATERIALS AND METHODS

15

Let us consider the plan. It illustrates our capabilities and achievements in separating solid particles in gases and liquids.

Filtration materials are based on the latest technologies in the manufacture of ultra - thin fiber structures with polymer, glass and metal bases, of ultra - dispersed powders, made of metals, oxides, carbides and other compounds, and of polynuclear membranes as well.

The centrifugal purification methods for the production of very pure gases for microelectronics are based on the technology of isotope separation:

ASPECT association suggests the following forms of cooperation:

the carrying out of research work;

the conducting of research work and the manufacturing of operating prototypes;

the conducting of research, experimental design work and commercial production of filters and filtration systems;

the carrying out of complex work, including pre-design surveying of the Customer technology, designing, selecting and developing filters and nitration systems, built in equipment of the Customer, with economic factors being optimized and ecological requirements adhered to, and service work during operations.
