2

Innovation We measure innovation as

success in the marketplace.

Execution A good idea is nothing if it fails to see the light of day.

Creativity A good idea is the jumping off point. =

INNOVATION = CREATIVITY + EXECUTION

Creativity and execution are equally important for successful innovation.

IMPROVING CREATIVITY & EXECUTION AT ALL LEVELS OF THE ORGANIZATION – INDIVIDUAL, TEAM, & ORGANIZATION

We use the Innovator’s DNA (iDNA) self-assessment tool, created by Professors Jeff Dyer of BYU / Wharton, Hal Gregersen of INSEAD, and Clayton Christensen of Harvard, to help reveal an individual’s discovery (creativity) and delivery (execution) skills. With this knowledge in hand, we design personalized Development Plans and coach executives to be more innovative.

At Philosophy IB, we do not believe in the myth of the “lone inventor”. Instead, we believe that innovation is developed when the right mix of people are brought together and aligned on a common goal. We use Social Network Analysis (SNA) to get a fresh perspective on the social life of information within an organization and provide team-building recommendations.

Our Front-End Innovation Process and Toolkit helps organizations and teams manage through the ideation process and come up with ground-breaking ideas. In the past, Philosophy IB has helped organizations design customized processes and tools as well as walkthrough Front-End Innovation activities.

INNOVATOR’S DNA OVERVIEW

What skills lead to disruptive or revolutionary business strategies? Professors Jeff Dyer of BYU / Wharton, Hal Gregersen of INSEAD, and Clayton Christensen of Harvard analyzed the world’s 25 most innovative companies to reveal the key skills required to develop and execute new and novel business solutions. They found that business innovation relied on people with both discovery (creativity) and delivery (execution) skills. (The original iDNA model won a Mckinsey and Company article for best Harvard Business Review article in 2009.)

Are the ‘right’ people engaged in the innovation process?

Are teams looking for new ideas from diverse sources?

Are functions partnering effectively to commercialize ideas?

What is the organization’s overall ‘Innovation Posture?’

SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS (SNA)

Social Network Analysis (SNA) allows us to analyze communication and interaction patterns between individuals. Through visual and quantitative insights, SNA reveals how people are collaborating with one another within the organization.
