How to fasten innovation on demand for the food packaging industry?

In the market we see:

How can we join forces to innovate on food packaging?

And how can we better use each others knowledge and

experience?

• Brand owners with a strong need for new food packaging innovations that can create value for the market

• Confusion regarding the performance capabilities of “green” materials

• No efficient co-creation between brand owners and material experts

DSM is very eager to grab this challenge

As DSM, we are convinced that we can shorten the innovation lead time and improve the time to market for new innovative food packaging concepts.

Why DSM?

- Translate user benefits into material requirements

- Best in class R&D organization driving breakthrough innovation

- Proven track record of green materials

• Together with industry experts and designers we developed 3 concepts to illustrate relevant product properties for food packaging.

• We tested these food packaging concepts; based on the user benefits of our material, amongst brand owners in the FMCG value chain

Example:

Be inspired by these concepts:

Self Closing Bag

APPLICATIONStaple goods, dosing, cereals. No box needed, no mess in the cupboard.

USECan be easily opened many times; once opened, the bag stays open. When closing, the bag automatically curls up using highly flexible plastic, sealing the content and minimizing storage space. Suitable for microwave.

Be inspired by these concepts:

Individual Serving Tray

APPLICATIONSnacks, ready to eat meals, small bread rolls, frozen or chilled.

USEThe tray has different individual compartments, each holding for example a bread roll. The tray can be rolled-up and stored in the freezer. The nr. of bread rolls needed can be cut off and placed in the oven; the bio-oil inside gives the product a crispy crust.
