The field of interest of the conference is the economics of innovation. The thematic scope of the conference embraces issues of the innovative policy and the overall impact of different spheres, methods and instruments of the economic policy on the innovative character of the economy on the micro, mezzo and macro levels.

We invite submissions of the papers based on methodological and empirical research. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

• the economic theory of innovation, including the approaches presented by various schools of theeconomy to the determinants, sources, barriers and meaning of innovation,

• innovative, structural and industrial policy on the regional, national and international level, includingtheinnovationinUE:aims,methods,instruments,effectivenessandefficiency,

• theinnovativecharacteroffirms:start-ups,R&Dactivity,financingofinnovativeactivity,economicaspects of intellectual property protection,

• theinnovativecharacterofthenon-governmentalorganisations,localgovernmentunitsandregions,• theinnovationonthefinancialmarkets,fintech,• theeconomybasedonknowledgeandtheroleofeducationandtransferofknowledgeinsupporting

the innovation.

Jan Toporowski is Professor of Economics and Finance at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is also a Research Associate in the Centre for the History and Methodology of Economics at the University of Amsterdam.Hismainareaofinterestismacroeconomicpolicy,inparticular,thefinancialcrises.ProfessorToporowskiisoneoftheleadingexpertsonMichalKaleckithought.Authorofnumerouspaperspublishedinthemostrenownedscientificjournalsandofmanybooks,forexample,AnIntellectualBiography.VolumeI–Rendez-vousinCambridge1899−1939 (2013),Why theWorldEconomyNeedsa Financial Crash’ andother critical essays on FinanceandFinancialEconomics(2010,inPolish2012).

Robert Faff is Professor of Finance and former Director of Research at the UQ Business School. He has an international reputation in empirical finance research: securing 14 Australian Research Council grants (fundingexceeding$4million);>310refereedjournalpublications;careercitations>11,000(GoogleScholar);andanh-indexof53(GoogleScholar).Hisparticularpassionisnurturinganddevelopingthecareertrajectoriesofearlycareerresearchers.His latest focus is “Pitching Research”, now gaining great traction domestically andworldwide.During his visit toPoland,ProfessorFaffwilltwolectures-oneattheconferenceINNOVATIVEECONOMY.THEROLEOFECONOMICPOLICYandsecondattheESRPDW2018(EmergingScholarsResearchPaperDevelopmentWorkshop,moreaboutthisevent http://esrpdw.wne.uw.edu.pl)

There are two alternative possibilities for publication:

1.InCentralEuropeanEconomicJournal(CEEJ),ajournalpublishedbytheFacultyofEconomicSciences,theUniversityofWarsaw,incooperationwithDeGruyterOpen.2. Inthemultiauthorpost-conferencemonograph(printedandelectronicversion).

The deadline for submission of an abstract of a paper is 20 May 2018. The registration and the submission should be made via Globscience system (http://www.globscience.com/pl/events/1734) or via e-mail: [email protected]. The abstract should include (in indicated order):

1)Title;2)Author(s);3)Purpose;4)Design/methodology/approach;5)Findings;6)Originality/valueadded;7)JELCodes; 8) Keywords;9)References

Only the abstracts submitted till 20 May 2018 will be a basis to invite their authors to publish their papers in CEEJ (2 double-blind reviews) or multiauthor post-conference monograph (1 double-blind review).

The deadline for the submission of full papers (via Globscience system or via e-mail: [email protected]) is 24 June 2018.

The participation without publication and presentation of a paper is free of charge.

The participation with a presentation of a paper and publication (i.e. submission of a paper for review and based on the positive review publication in the post-conference book or CEEJ as well as a presentation of a paper during the conference): 500 PLN gross. The number of bank account will be sent after the evaluation of the abstracts.

During our conference, all registered participants will have the possibility to:

• take part in all events in the programme,

• receive a copy of the post-conference book,

• obtain a certificate of participation in the conference.
