    Description (Maximum 400 words):

    Technology

This Automatic solar water pump uses the Solar PV technology for lifting water. The traditional use of the solar pump technology consists of the solar panel (array), electric motor (pump) and water collecting tanks. While in that technology the excess amount of solar energy is not considerably used because after the tank fill up the system shut down there is use of the floating sensor in the currently available system. Even, In Nepal some system are poorly automatic but not fully automation is implemented. The automatic solar water pump have some extension on the traditional approach it needs automation electronic circuitry (control system) which notify and control the current status of the water level in the tank and motor status.

Nepal is lies at 30 degree Northern altitude with over 300 days of sunshine annually (Solar Energy, 2014). This automatic system also have solar tracker which tracks the maximum sunlight direction or angle. While traditional system there is no tracking of the sunlight so at once only the maximum sunlight can penetrate the solar panel. This tracking system increase the energy generation rate of solar panel than the earlier. Active tracking systems provide up to a 40 % higher yield from Solar PV modules. This systems follow the sun through the day, this extends the time that useful power levels are delivered and maximizes the peak power. (Solar tracking system, 2014)

Contribution to the Green Industrial Development

The Mono/Polycrystalline solar system have large array of the solar panel which can generate kWs of electricity most of the day for drinking water pumping purposes or other purposes, but we dont need the continuous pumping of water. When the pumping task is accomplished the automatic electronic system switch the solar energy system to the grid

  • (distribution system) line which is connected to the supply for the other industries where the industrial system stores the energy in the battery (battery array) or direct energy can be used after the inversion of DC into AC. So at the excess of energy after the pumping completion it can be stored on the rechargeable battery and can be used small industrial purposes like machining, drying, lighting and driving motors at small industries. The overall efficiency of the solar pump will increase and reduce the human effort on the switching, controlling operation in the solar pump.
