ISIS is a privately owned company founded in 2006. The company was spun out of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands after the development and successful launch of the Delfi-C3 nanosatellite. ISIS was founded to provide high value, cost effective space solutions.

ISIS has extensive experience in the field of nanosatellites. ISIS employs an international team of engineers from different space backgrounds. They bring with them years of experience in all the phases of the small satellite lifecycle. Furthermore the ISIS engineering team has a strong background in Systems Engineering and Concurrent Design

Applications

ISIS subsidiary Innovative Data Services (IDS) provides access to global data obtained from a dedicated space infrastructure. In today's online and connected world, people need to be able to act fast. In order to do that you need all the information regarding your operations you can obtain. However, in large areas of the world, it is difficult to obtain that information due to a lack of affordable communication infrastructure and sensors. IDS offers solutions to bridge such information gaps by making use of satellites to gather information in those areas that would otherwise be uneconomical to cover with more traditional means.

As a first service, IDS is developing an ocean traffic service, which will provide near real time information on vessel movements on the oceans. By detecting AIS messages from space that are transmitted by vessels on an international voyage and ships outside the range of coastal stations, it is possible to provide an accurate overview of vessel traffic all over the world. Future applications will include oil pipe monitoring, asset tracking and many other applications.

Other applications and activities that require near real time information in remote areas and on a global scale are within the capabilities of IDS as well, such as remote sensor network readouts and tracking and tracing of valuable assets.

Missions

ISIS provides turnkey missions for institutional, governmental and commercial customers around the globe. ISIS provides integrated and verified satellites and satellite buses. These systems can be delivered to the customer for further integration activities or delivered (with customer payload) in orbit as a turnkey system. ISIS has a range of off the shelf products, but also develops custom solutions. All systems undergo a full set of verification activities including (sub)system environmental and acceptance testing.

Next to subsystem and system capabilities ISIS also provides ground segments including mission control, ground stations and data processing facilities, making ISIS a one-of-a-kind total solution provider in the field of nanosatellites. The ISIS ground segment are GENSO ready and can operate in VHF, UHF and S-Band. The systems are highly autonomous and currently in use for many CubeSat missions.

As part of its total mission solution philosophy ISIS has also developed a range of mechanical, electrical and RF support tools for ISIS and partner systems. These EGSE and MGSE tools are often forgotten and are used to interact with the hardware during AIT.

ISIS offers its customers a range of consultancy services in order to aid with their nanosatellite ambitions:

ReviewerISIS can help you make the most of your space programme by providing consultancy support. This helps ensure the quality of your nanosatellite project. As a reviewer, ISIS can review your material and/or attend milestone meetings and provide advice and support on how to make your project more effective and of a higher quality.

AdvisorIf you are new to space and/or need advise on how to work in the space industry, ISIS can help. As advisor ISIS can advice on procurements, help you evaluate your proposals and milestone documentation and perform due diligence.

With ISIS’ academic roots it is ideally suitable to run nanosatellite training and development programmes. For these programmes ISIS has partnered with Delft University of Technology and several major players in the European space industry. This ensures that ISIS training covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the nanosatellite missions.

ISIS training can be provided at the customer’s premises or in Delft. The training is suitable for everyone, whether you are a university looking for a 2 day workshop on CubeSats or an established commercial space company in need of a specific in-depth nanosatellite training.

Launch Services

It’s our mission to launch yours

In September 2009 ISIS carried out its first cluster launch campaign of nanosatellites on behalf of its four customers. Onboard an Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV) ISILaunch manifested CubeSats from Germany, Switzerland and Turkey. Apart from the launch contracts, ISIS took care of the interface between the launch service provider and the satellite teams, provided the logistics, launch adapters and test services to the teams.

ISIS has developed its own nanosatellite launch adapter that is compatible with the CubeSat standard: The ISIPod. This launch adapter is used to protect and store the satellite during launch and release the satellite into orbit. The ISIPod design is lightweight and uses a resettable lock mechanism . This greatly reduces cost and time during AIT and launch preparations.
