Program Overview Innovative Thinking: Tools + Techniques for Daily Innovation
OVERVIEW
In this program, all staff levels assess their own level of innovative thinking and learn techniques for overcoming innovation barriers. Individuals discover how to maintain an open mind and support innovative ideas in their daily work. They will also learn the power of asking the right questions to solicit creative solutions as opposed to criticizing why a new idea won’t work. With the guidance of our Innovation Trainers, time will be spent exploring and practicing proven tools and techniques for effective brainstorming and creative problem-‐solving. In the workshop session, we
will illustrate and discuss how to apply these methods to actual challenges faced by participants on the job. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
§ Identify and overcome individual barriers to innovative thinking § Activate out-‐of-‐the-‐box idea generation § Learn and apply strategies for creative problem-‐solving
Activities: § Identifying mental patterns that may inhibit innovative thinking § Upshifting to a more creative mindset § Drawing as an effective communication tool § Understanding preferences for creative problem-‐solving § Snowcasting § Applying divergent and convergent thinking practices

Program Agenda Innovative Thinking: Igniting the Innovative Mindset What does it really mean to think outside of the box…and can we learn to do it every day? In this session, participants will realize the roadblocks that prevent innovation and learn the four steps to overcoming them. Discover Your Inner-‐Innovator Define a Four-‐Step Process to Creatively Solve Problems
Participants engage in a formal assessment to determine strengths and preferences within a researched process for creative problem solving. Preferences will be discussed at the group level to address how to more effectively collaborate with others. § TECHNIQUE: DRAWING YOUR PROCESS

Activate Innovative Ideas Separate Divergent + Convergent Thinking

Program Access to Innovation Portal Innovative Thinking: Tools + Techniques for Daily Innovation The Innovative Thinking program grants 1-‐year access for all participants to a set of 30 on-‐demand resources on our Innovation Portal. Through podcasts, videos, tools, and case studies, individuals cultivate the skills taught in the Innovative Thinking program. Utilizing these materials after (and between) workshop sessions enables participants to continually question assumptions, overcome barriers to innovative thinking, and use creative methods for growing the business.
