ere always found guilty. They neverknew who accused them. They neverhad lawyers, and no one would dare lift a finger to help. . . . On August 28,1558, Walter Mill (an 82 year old Scotsman and parish priest of Lunan nearMontrose), was burned alive with several others for embracing theReformed Faith!!

he Inquisition was forcibly suppressed by Napoleon when he enteredMadrid in 1808. When the Spanish Parliament in 1831 declared itincompatible with the Constitution, the Vaticanprotested. King Ferdinand

II restored it again in 1814. The Inquisition was finally suppressed by theLiberals in July, 1833. However, the Holy Office has neverceased tounction. It is stillalive and well and disguised under the specious name

(sacred congregation for the doctrine of the faith) in the Vatican today!Itscurrent head is a German named Ratzinger and Time magazine had this tosay about him:

The Cardinal wields immense clout in the hierarchy - beginning atthe top. The Pope and Ratzinger are, says one mid-rankingVatican official, two pieces of a puzzle. Without one, the other isnot complete. Others point out an obvious primacy. hroughout history, whenever the time came for God to do a great work,he devil has always put forth his utmost power to stop the work of God.

Satan, acting through Pharaoh, king of Egypt, was not going to let thechildren of Israel go to the promised land without putting up a tremendous

struggle.

Moses had to plague his kingdom with 10 plagues, and kill all the firstbornof Egypt, before Pharaoh would finally relent. Even then Pharaoh sawanother opportunity at the Red Sea to annihilate the people of God:

"But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God hadsworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt, Tillanother king arose which knew not Joseph. The same dealtsubtilly (crafty, cunning, shrewd, deceptive) with our kindred, andevil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their youngchildren, to the end that they might not live" (Acts 7:17-19,Exodus 1:22).

Before the coming of the Messiah, Satan had all his people in keyositions, especially the religious leaders. He directed king Herod to murder

all the babies in Bethlehem in hopes of killing the promised Redeemer. Theland of Israel was filled with legions of devils and unclean spirits to opposehe work of the Messiah. Jesus began His preaching ministry in the town

Before the Emperor Constantine ended the persecutions, the pagans madeone last desperate attempt to abolish the Christian name. This persecution,under the Emperor Diocletian, began on the 23rd of February (303 A.D.),hat being the day the Roman Terminalia was celebrated, and the cruel

pagans boasted that they would finally put a termination to Christianity. . . .Fire, racks, swords, wild beasts, crosses, poison and famine were madeuse of to kill the Christians. Invention was exhausted to devise tortures

against those who would not deny Christ and acknowledge Caesar as"lord" and burn incense to his image.

Christians faced death bravely in the Roman Coliseum for their Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ.

his persecution lasted 10 years and was ended by the victory ofConstantine, and his Edict of Milan (313 A.D.), granting freedom of worshipo the believers. It was a great victoryof Christ over the Dragon and the

pagan Roman superstition. The Emperor Constantine, says the Churchhistorian Eusebius,

caused to be painted on a lofty tablet, and set up in the front ofthe portico of his palace, so as to be visible to all, arepresentation of the salutary sign placed above his head; andbelow it that hateful and savage adversary of mankind, who bymeans of the tyranny of the ungodly, had wasted the Church ofGod, falling headlong, under the form of a Dragon, to the abyssof destruction" (Eusebius, Life of Constantine).

From the Bible and history we see that Satan always stirs up all his wrathust before the hour of deliverance. It will be no differentthis time. The Bibleplainly teaches that will be great tribulation for the true Church just beforehe Second Coming of Christ.

Satan hates all those who believe in the Reformation credo: salvation byaith in Christ alone, and he will do his utmost to massacre them. It will be

anotherSt. Bartholomew's Day Massacre - on a worldwide scale. . . . This

is symbolizedin Scripture by the Battle of Armageddon - Satan loosed outof his prison - the great tribulation - the Dragon making war with the saintsetc.

Satan will use to try and bring the entire world under the Papacy. Like theplague of frogs on Egypt, Roman Catholicism will be everywhere:

of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of themouth of the false prophet . . . And Aaron stretched out his handover the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and coveredtheland of Egypt " (Rev. 16:13, Exodus 8:6).

Jesus said: "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last" (Rev. 1:11). Thelast quarterof Christian history will end like the first quarterof Jewishhistory . . . with Pharaoh in hot pursuit of the spiritualchildren of Israel. . . .

his modern Pharaoh will try and exterminate all who refuse toacknowledge him as the Vicar of Christ. However, the Lord Jesus Christ -

he Prophet like unto Moses - will overthrow him in a victory greaterthan athe Red Sea:

"And it came to pass, that in the morning watch (the fourth watch)the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillarof fire and of the cloud and troubled the host of the Egyptians . . .

And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and thehorsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the seaafter them; there remained not so much as one of them" (Exodus

Unlike the movie, Pharaoh was buried at sea. He never got to use thegigantic pyramid that his slaves had built for him. When Christ returns He

ill bury His enemies in a sea. . . a sea of fire!

St. Paul tell us that God will trouble the persecutors of His Church when Hecomes again:

"And to you that are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesusshall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, In flamingfire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey

not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punishedwith everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, andfrom the glory of His power" (II Thess. 1:7-8).

Death for the true believer is described as restuntil that great ResurrectionMorning comes. . . . Death for the unbeliever is not the end of existence, orPurgatory, but everlasting torment in the lake of fire and brimstone. Whom

ill you choose - Christ or the Pope? - one is everlasting joy in Heaven, theother is everlasting pain in Hell.

"And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and thesong of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works,Lord God Almighty; just and true are they ways, thou King ofSaints Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? forthou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship beforethee: for thy judgments are made manifest" (Exodus 15, Rev.15:3-4).
