Anne. Raymond plays for the Ste. Anne Colle- giate Lynx Basketball Team and was awarded the Tri-Star Rural High School Athlete of the Week back in December 2013. This 6’4” forward led the team to a perfect 7-0 record during the pre-season. He also led the Lynx to a tournament win in Niverville. Raymond averages 35 pts and 25 rebounds per game. “Ray is the hardest working player I have ever coached or seen at this level,” says Coach Erik Leefe. “He is always in the gym working on his game and helping his teammates with theirs. He never stops working during a game no matter what the score or stakes.” Hiebert is a grade 12 student who maintains an 85% average, while also participating in Volleyball, Badminton and Track. Ste. In the 1700s, women gave birth to seven to ten children each. Elephant moms gestate their calves for 22 months! Most human babies are born after 37 to 42 weeks of gestation (Thankfully). Mr. Roger's mom knit him many of the sweaters he donned on the set of his popular children's television show.

There was an explosion in the garage of a Gagnier Bay house around3:30 pm April 6th in Ste. Anne that sent three men to hospital with oneman in serious condition with burns. All three men were in the garage manufacturing illegal drugs whenthe explosion and subsequent fire occurred in the garage of the home. "The damage was pretty extensive. One garage wall was blown outfour feet and the garage doors were blown off," said Chief Ken Daymentof the Sainte-Anne Fire Department. "It went from there right into theattic and we managed to stop it in the attic."

The man who is in serious condition was takento the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg due tothe serious nature of his burns while the other twomen were taken to hospital in Ste. Anne. Ste. Anne Police Chief Marc Robichaud says itappears the manufacture of illegal drugs led tothe explosion. He said a search warrant was carriedout on the 7th. "We discovered items that would be conduciveto the production of cannabis oil. We recovered anumber of containers, used butane containers,which are common in the production of cannabisoil along with a quantity of marijuana and somematerials that are used in making cannabis oil orhashish oil." The damage to the home was estimated at about$150,000-200,000. Charges are pending.

Husband Down Eddie and his wife June are shoppingin their local supermarket. The husbandpicks up a case of Heineken and puts it in their cart.“What do you think you're doing?” asks June.“They're on sale, only $15 for 24 cans,” Eddie replies.“Put them back, we can't afford them” demands the wife, and so theycarry on shopping. A few aisles further on along June picks up a $30 jar of face creamand puts it in the basket.“What do you think you're doing?” asks Eddie.“It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,” replies the wife.Her husband retorts: “So does 24 cans of Heineken and it's half theprice.”

The Manitoba government is investingover $28 million in repairs and upgradesalong PTH 12 south of the Trans-CanadaHighway. Work starting this year will include rehabilitating the Seine RiverDiversion bridge, just south of Ste. Anne, improving the intersec-tion at PR 311 near Blumenort and paving seven km from south ofPTH 52 to Park Road in Steinbach.

The north and southbound lanes of the six-kilometre stretch from the Trans-Canada Highway to the Seine River Diversion will also be paved. Borland Construction has been awarded the contract for that project andpaving will occur over the next two years. “The new projects include bridge replacements and paving and resurfacing ofthis roadway, which is a direct link to the Trans-Canada Highway, the nationalhighway system, and CentrePort Canada,” said Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger.
