Anne Lions Club recently hosted their annual town cleanup. “We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect, everyone did a great job,” said Cathy Roy, a member of the club. Teams even showed up eager to start the day with bags of garbage already collected along their way to the park. As participants arrived they chose sections of the town they wanted to tackle then teams went out and cleaned up debris that accumulated over the winter. Two of the Lions Club members went around visiting businesses offer- ing to wash their windows. After done participants where invited back to the park for a free barbeque lunch and free face painting for the little ones. The Ste. Anne Lions Club would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy the day with them and to the schools for helping the week prior. Voters in the constituency of Dawson Trail have elected not only a new MLA, but a new party. Bob Lagasse who represents the PC Party of Manitoba becomes our representative in the Provincial Leg- islature. Lagasse garnered more votes than Terry Hayward of the Manitoba Liberals, Roxane Dupuis of the NDP and David Sutherland of the Manitoba Party to win the seat on April 19. Ste. Anne Sparkles New MLA

Ecolé Ste. Anne Immersion’s(ESAI) Parent Advisory Council(PAC) is reaching out to themembersof the community for do-nations. The goal is to add somewheelchair accessible play ele-ments and a new play structurealong with a decentralized playspace at ESAI. Over the last 6 years,the PAC has raised over $115,000in cash donations, time commit-ments, and savings. Their short-fall is now under $9,000. The PAC has recognized the factthat Ste. Anne has no wheelchairaccessible play structures. They arein the process of updating andadding 4 handicap accessible el-ements. They have also planned a

green space that adds two ad-ditional wheelchair accessibleelements. About 1/6th oftheir cost ($20,916) comesfrom adding essential equip-ment that welcomes childrenand families of all abilities.  The parents of ESAIformed a non-profit orga-nization and took on a

long-term capital project tofundraising $125,498.90 to mod-ernize, add wheelchair access, in-crease the capacity, and add adecentralized natural play area.They have also just completed anengineering inspection and theplan is to remove three unsafe partsimmediately and make it safe untilit can be decommissioned by theend of the school year. The proposed natural play areawill include boulder, log, andmound features – will also includesome new ideas for the schoolyard.It adds a creative, quiet space, andan outdoor classroom. The Ste. Anne Lions Clubwould like to welcome the firstAlzheimer Society Walk in theTown of Ste. Anne. The walkregistration will take place

Alzheimer Walk Coming to Ste. Anneduring the Annual Kite Festival onJune 11 at the Ste. Anne soccerpark just south of the fire hall. The Walk registration is plannedfor 10 am and the walk will start at

10:30 am. Participants canchoose two options for walking...a short walk of approximately 20minutes or a longer walk forthose who really want to getsome exercise (about 30 – 45minutes). For participants to join it’s aminimum donation of $25 foradults. Walkers will receive adonation receipt. Kids walk forfree. There will be team chal-lenges. A team of 10 whocommit to raising $1,000 receivematching team t-shirts. Gift cardsgiveaways are available for otherlevels of funds raised. “The Alzheimer Society hasbeen providing services in Ste.Anne since February of thisyear,” said walk organizer
