How is this possible? With traditional TESOL courses, you need to work around the class schedule, because the class only meets at certain times during the week. So, you’re forced to sit in a classroom and listen to the lectures for hours every week, and if you miss a class, you’re out of luck. By contrast, online TESOL courses provide lecture notes on their websites. So instead of spending hours every week in class, you can go online, read over the notes, do the assigned reading, and finish your assignments as your schedule permits, at your own pace and all in the convenience of your own home! And because you can generally complete an online TESOL course much faster than a traditional TESOL course, an online TESOL course has the added benefit of saving you time. An online TESOL course can also save you a lot of time and money in other ways. When you take a traditional TESOL course at a school, you can waste a lot of time between classes and driving back and forth between home and class. All that wasted time could be better spent doing assignments or studying for an exam. Imagine all the time you wouldn’t have to spend sitting in traffic, and the money you would save on gas and public transportation costs! However, the greatest benefit of online TESOL courses is the flexibility it gives you to control your schedule. So if you have family or job obligations, or life just gets in the way from time to time, an online TESOL course will free you up to handle your responsibilities while you work towards your TESOL certificate. Ultimately, an online TESOL course provides you with similar benefits as a traditional TESOL course, but an online TESOL course will fit better into your busy life. So if you’re interested in getting a TESOL certificate, consider including an online TESOL course as one of your options. All of us, when in deep trauma, find we hesitate, we stammer; there are long pauses in our speech. The thing is stuck. We get our language back through the language of others. We can turn to the poem. We can open the book. Somebody has been there for us and deep-dived the words.” ~ Jeanette Winterson

THE BENEFITS OF

ONLINE TESOL COURSES

Here's another great article you can share

with your friends and family!

- James Lee

Online TESOL courses offer you the flexibility, convenience, and freedom to get your TESOL certificate on your own terms, despite your busy schedule. How is this possible? With traditional TESOL courses, you need to work around the class schedule, because the class only meets at certain times during the week. So, you’re forced to sit in a classroom and listen to the lectures for hours

every week, and if you miss a class, you’re out of luck.

The ESL Lesson Plan

A lesson plan is the most important tool in a teacher’s resource toolbox. It is a clear, concise, yet detailed outline of the course of instruction for a particular lesson or curriculum. A lesson plan should clearly define the lesson objective and be carefully designed to meet the particular level or requirements of the students. It should also include the lesson activities, target goals, resources, materials and even the time frame for the achievement and completion of certain objectives and lessons. Additionally, the content of a lesson plan should reflect one or more educational methodologies that guide the teacher in addressing student needs and the multiple areas of intelligence (e.g., speaking, listening comprehension and reading and writing). However, while a lesson plan is an absolutely necessary tool for the conscientious and well-prepared teacher, teachers should keep in mind that it is only a blueprint for the achievement of a particular lesson objective. The classroom setting is a dynamic, ever-shifting environment where educational objectives, student needs, and multiple intelligence levels merge to create the “personality” of a particular classroom. A lesson plan should take into consideration the dynamic needs of a class and how the students in a particular class will absorb and master the material. Thus, the teacher should mold the lesson plan so that it not only fits the personality of the class, but also includes challenging, confidence-building, educationally-focused activities that maintain the integrity of the learning objectives and keep the best educational interests of the student at heart. A lesson plan is not just a lifeless document created as a reference manual so that teachers can verify the page numbers of a book or confirm that a lesson topic has been covered. Rather, a well-prepared teacher brings a lesson plan to life, such that activities and learning objectives integrate seamlessly into one another and students gain the maximum benefit from a particular lesson. Ultimately, as in so many other areas in life, the success of a lesson plan depends on the teacher herself. An average lesson plan allows the average teacher to perform adequately in the classroom, but a well-prepared teacher with a carefully designed lesson plan is able to motivate and encourage her students, boost their confidence levels and address their specific learning needs, so that they meet their educational goals.
