Beloved Sir Knights,
We sure are churning
through this Summer
aren’t we? Public
schools are about to be-
gin classes, football is
about to start, and the
Parish Festival in almost
here as well. Make sure
you take some time to volunteer to help set up
the tents and booths. Last year, we set every-
thing up in 3 hours (a record!) Here’s an an easy
method for volunteering “https://signup.com/

your browser and you’ll go the Good Shepherd

the set up of the booths and tents, the Soccer
Challenge, Security, and the tear down.
On September 11th is our 2018 Columbian Year
Knights Quarterly Rosary for the World Day of
Prayer. Our Rosary begins promptly at 6:30pm in
the Church Sanctuary. Traditionally this event is
led by PGK SK Iggy Lopez Alvarez, PGK SK Carlos

Greetings, Officer's Training - We conducted an Officers' Training on August 11, 2018. The training was not completed as sched-uled due to the interesting and lively discussions on some of the training agenda. We learned so
much, especially in the Bylaws of the Council. We will rectify some of the necessary articles through the process of amendment to conform with our present needs and practices. Thus I have created Bylaws Amendment Committee. At this time, I appointed SK Dave Magnino as the Chair and SK Iggy Alvarez Lopez, SDM Tim Fukuda, SK Joe Tho-mas, SK John Chris Adricula, Bro Larry Rapolla as members. Hope we will be able to amend the By-laws within 90 days.
Furthermore, there is an online Officers' training offered by the Supreme. I encourage all officers to open and perform the training required to learn our individual officer's duties and responsibilities.
Officer's Installation - Officers' installation was conducted on August 18, 2018. Majority of the of-ficers were present and installed by Chaplain, Fr. Ed, WDD Dan Aguiar, and WPFN Terry Rees. My congratulations to all officers. I asked you all your cooperation in order that we will achieve our goals and objectives during this Columbian Year. Thanks to our PWGK Rich Thompson, SK Terry De Frates for their assistance on our Installation.

call me or email me soon so we can talk.

Let me know if you need an Assembly shirt. It
is best if we order them in quantities that give us
price breaks. Let’s see if we can get 10-20 to
order. It would be nice to see more red Assem-
bly shirts out there in the church pews. Romeo
and Jess lead the way at the 11am Mass most
Sundays. Again, email me uw-
[email protected] with a quantity and your
size. Once I get a quantity that gives us a price
break, I will get with you on a price.
As a reminder, our Assembly Meetings are in the
St. John Paul ll Room the 3rd Wednesday of
every month beginning at 6:00pm. September
19th is our next meeting.
Lastly, you can talk to Brother Derek Bacon, SK
Eduardo Ortiz, or SK Jess Fernandez about the
power of prayer. All three have an impactful
story to tell about their medical recoveries and
how Knights praying for them had a big impact
on them. We do more than just flip burgers and
set up tables.
Thank you, God Bless You, and Vivat Jesus!

G. K.’s Report . . . Continued F. N.’s Message . . . Continued
We were jointly installed with Florin Council #14241
of St. Anthony Parish in Sacramento. We had the
privilege to welcome them to our church. We hope
next year we should have more eventful installation
of officers.
Council Committees - There are committees re-
quired by the Supreme and Adhoc Committee cre-
ated by the Council to conduct short term duties
needed by the Council. I am asking some members
to actively participate and to perform certain com-
mittee responsibilities. I thank those who accepted
my request for membership to these committees. I
also hope that the committees will offer on the job
training for our future officers and interest to ac-
tively participate in our Council.
At this time, we need members to "shadow" our
Chair SK Larry Fernandez for the Fireworks Commit-
tee and Chair SK Edwin Camerino for the Holiday
Craft Faire. It will certainly provide a smooth transi-
tion if the future Chair will undergo an "on the job
training" on these profitable and important pro-
grams of our Council.
Church Festival - Our church festival is upon us.
Most of the Festival activities are provided by the
Council, especially the set up and tear down of the
large tent. I appointed our WDGK Mike Blakey to be
the Representative/Liaison of our Council. Hope
your are all able and available to extend your help-
ing him when he requests for help.

1st Degree Exemplification:
The next 1st Degree Exemplification date has not been set by our team. So far, there is only one can-
didate from our council awaiting exemplification. There is still time for me to conduct interviews. So if
you know of someone who is interested in becoming a Knight, let me know ASAP.
2nd/3rd Degree Exemplifications:
According to WDD Dan Aguiar, there is a scheduled Exemplification on Saturday, September 29, 2018,
in West Sacramento. I don’t have the full detail but I’ll give you an update as soon as I have it. To our
1st degree and 2nd degree Brothers, this is a chance to advance in the Order. But, you have to do the
most important step to begin the process and that is: TALK TO YOUR WORTHY CHANCELLOR.
The magic number: 15
Yes, that’s the number we need to recruit in a year to earn “Star Council. “ If each one of us can spon-
sor at least one (1) “Good Catholic Man” within the Columbian year, there is no reason for us not to be
a Star Council.
At the Annual Parish Festival, wear your Council or Assembly shirt. Let the Parish notice the pres-
ence of the Knights. A tent will be set up for the Knights of Columbus and I am asking my fellow
Brother Knights to assist in anyway in recruiting, like answering questions of a curious or interested
“Good Catholic Man.”
REMEMBER: Every Member is a Recruiter!
At your service,

Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) is the primary program through which The Knights of Co-
lumbus can provide financial support to Seminarians. It is also designed to provide moral support
through keeping in contact with the Seminarians.
K of C Council 11236 has been actively participating in the program since 2012. Each year we select two
seminarian candidates from the Sacramento Dioceses. Each candidate is given $500 to be used towards
their studies while in the seminary.
Seminarians we are supporting this year both attend St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA, - they
are:
Victor Goranov
Victor is 27 years old, was born in Bratsk, Russia, and is in Theology 1 at the seminary.
Joseph Malinis
Joseph is 28 years old, was born in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines and is in Theology 4 at the seminary.

SEP 2018 8
Brother Knights,
We are planning Good Shepherd’s 20th Annual Parish Festival. This is the biggest fundraiser of the
year for the Church. I always look forward to the dinner under the lights on Saturday night, September
22nd with the silent and live auctions. On Sunday, September 23rd, we have a great mix of ethnic foods
and entertainment, Bingo, festival games, the soccer challenge, a car show and so much more. Father
Leon usually regales us with his accordion and then there are the famous Polish sausages. I hope you all
will come out and join us.
It’s always a time of great fun and lots of work. There are many opportunities to help. If you can aid us
with the set up and tear down that would be great.
Set Up: Wed. Sept. 19
We plan on meeting at 8 AM on the 19th to set up
the main tent. This will be followed by assembly of
the many booths and there may even be some
electric lines and outlets to set up. We’ll even have
our own KofC booths (Adult Beverages &
Recruitment) to set up.
An Open Invitation
Are you new to our Council/Assembly or have been waiting for the “right time” to get involved? Do you
want to form bonds of friendship, trust, admiration and mutual respect with your fellow Knights?
Then the Set Up and Tear Down for the Parish Festival is the place to experience it. You will be welcomed
and supported by your fellow Knights. We will all learn more about each other as we jointly labor to help
out our parish. You will better know your fellow Knights and leave with a deeper feeling of camaraderie &
accomplishment.
This is an opportunity to become a friend and a proud, committed Knight.
We look forward to seeing you for the Set Up and/or Tear Down. Contact me if you have any questions or
need additional information.
