Dream Theater have long been the exception to the rule in the world of progressiin the world of progressive heavy metal. This reign began nearly 2 decades ago when a group of young Berklee students combined forces with an expert crooner, named Charlie Dominici to form Majesty. When Majesty changed their name to Dream Theater & unleashed the masterful When Dream And Day Unite upon a late ‘80s metal scene in flux, even the band themselves couldn’t have predicted the historical import of their debut.the historical import of their debut.
Though Dominici’s tenure with the burgeoning prog gods would be short-lived, many regard Dream Theater’s debut album to be their finest, if not most poignant, “song oriented” hard rock opus. After moving on from DT, the vocalist took break from the rock world for years, returning in 2005 with part one of a conceptual acoustic release entitled O3 A Trilogy.
