This session was very well attended and provided information regarding Scholarships and the process involved to transition from Primary school to High school. Thank you to those parents who attended. If you were unable to attend please do not hesitate to contact us for information provided on the evening. At Tuesday’s Assembly we had the privilege of acknowledging and congratulating our elected Student Representative Council (SRC) from Year 1 through to Year 7. Our Foundation children will join us from the commencement of Term 3. The SRC provides the scope for children to serve their school and the wider community by representing their peers. With the support of the School Captains and our SRC Key Teachers, Barbara Saunderson and Kerry Ramsay, this group is provided with a wonderful opportunity to participate in the decision making process. From this group the SRC Executive is formed as part of a sub-committee of the SRC. This group attends the Student Voice meetings with the Executive of the School on behalf of the student body. This week it was wonderful to hear the many memorable and enjoyable activities in which the Year 7 students were involved on the Canberra Tour. It was a great opportunity for the students to show leadership and resilience. Thank you to the staff who attended and made this Tour such a successful event. Your time, support and care of the students is truly appreciated. The second SPW Coffee Club was held this morning, which will become a regular weekly fixture, located adjacent Braested Field. This provides an occasion to meet as a community to chat and ask any questions. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend. Simon Theel Years 3 to 7 Swimming Carnival As mentioned in the Swimming Carnival letter that can be found on Skoolbag, we are using SSO (Subject Selection Online) to manage all swimming nominations this year to streamline the process. Nominations close on Friday 18 March. Please note no further nominations will be accepted after this time. Late nominations affect the number of heats needed on the day as well as staffing ratios and due to the amount of time needed to organise the program there will be no exceptions this year. Chaplain’s Chat Thank you for the welcome I have received to SPW. It has already made a powerful impression on me as a very positive and caring environment. I feel privileged to be a part of it. My family was on an extended journey before arriving here, eighteen months in Cyprus, then six months travelling while waiting for immigration visas. I unexpectedly have to travel again, back to South Africa to see my father who has terminal cancer. Thank you to Father Andrew for stepping in while I am away in Weeks 6 and 7. I look forward to settling into the community when I return.
