There was a staff appreciation lunch held on Wednesday, and there was a breakfast this morning. At the Wednesday lunch, we announced the winner of this years Agricultural Economics Exceptional Staff Service Award, Donna Chester, Administrative Coordinator II, in the Undergraduate office. Congratulations Donna. Also I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the staff in the department. Your efforts and contributions are very important to the success of our Department and of our students. Together, we make a better team. Thank you for all that you do. AGEC481 On Wednesday afternoon, I went to visit with Dr. Clark Springfields AGEC481 class. I spent most of the hour with graduating seniors discussing our department, teachers, classes, advising, and their experience during their time in our department. They provided a lot of feedback and ideas/suggestions that should be useful as we plan for the future. Ty Timm Honor Registry Inductions On Friday morning, Jody Hall ’85, and Rob Hall ’89 will be inducted into the Tyrus R. Tymm Honor Registry during a ceremony in the AgriLife Center. Both Jody and Rob will be inducted by Mr. Mark Patranella ’82 a current Timm Honor Registry member. Rob joined HEB in 1989, and Jody joined HEB in 1990. They have both had long successful careers with this Texas based company. Congratulations both Jody and Rob Hall on successful careers with HEB, and on your induction into the Tyrus R. Tymm Honor Registry. On Friday evening, Fernando Paloma ’96, will be inducted into the Tyrus R. Tymm Honor Registry during a dinner and ceremony at Christophers World Grille. Fernando will be inducted by Mr. Robert (Hunter) Goodwin ’96 a current Timm Honor Registry member. Along with a very successful Track and Field experience at Texas A&M, Fernando was a member of the El Salvador National Track and Field Team through 1999. In 2000 he began a sports broadcasting career with ESPN, and has had numerous high profile assignments around the world. Congratulations Fernando on your induction into the Tyrus R. Tymm Honor Registry. Seminar Presentations Friday and Next Monday Today, Dr. Mariano Mezzatesta ’12 from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) in Portland, OR, will present a seminar titled From Texas, to East Coast, to West Coast: Wholesale Electricity Markets and Hydro Power Opera- tions”. The presentation is scheduled from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in AGLS 129. On Monday Dr. Keith Coble ’93, Professor and Department Head in Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University, and President-Elect of AAEA will present a seminar scheduled from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in AGLS 301. The end of the semester is drawing near. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Assistant International Marketing Manager, Potatoes USA is in the process of filling a new Assistant Interna-tional Marketing Manager position that has been created to support new international marketing programs. Assist the Potatoes USA Marketing Department staff to implement the international marketing programs that are designed to increase demand for U.S. potatoes in export markets. The Department of Agr icul-tural Economics and Rural Sociology seeks a one-year, fixed-term visiting assistant, associate, or full professor (or instructor) of Agricultural Economics. The start date would be July 1, 2019 or August 1, 2019. The department will consider new Ph.D.s, ABDs, and more senior faculty seeking a sabbatical home. Visiting Professor of any rank re-quires a Ph.D. in agricultural economics or related discipline.
