Inspire your students and give back The Meaning of Home is an annual writing contest for students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada. Students across Canada are invited to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them. It’s a great way to engage your students in an interactive and fun way, and it teaches youth the importance of safe, affordable housing. Why get involved? Each entry results in a $10 donation from Genworth Canada to Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes in partnership with families in your community. Winners of the contest get to designate a $25,000 grant towards a Habitat for Humanity build of their choice and win other great prizes like a pizza party and iPad. Curriculum kits are provided to help students improve their critical thinking, communication and creative skills. Your participation helps low-income Canadian families build strength, stability and self- reliance through affordable homeownership. Inspire your students and give backThe Meaning of Home is an annual writing contest for students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada.
