“Why ,Jon ,why?” His mother asked. “Why is it so hard to be like the rest of the flock, Jon? Why can’t you leave low flying to the pelicans, the albatross? Why don’t you eat?

Jon, you are bone and feathers!”

“I don’t mind being bone and feathers, Mum. I just want to know what I can do in the air and what I can’t, that’s all. I just want to know”

It's forgiveness that makes us what we are.

Without forgiveness, our species would've annihilated itself in endless retributions. Without forgiveness, there would be no history. Without that hope, there would be no art, for every work of art is in some way an act of forgiveness.

Without that dream, there would be no love, for every act of love is in some way a promise to forgive. We live on because we can love, and we love because we can forgive.

People say that Orion is called Orion because Orion was a hunter and the constellation looks like a hunter with a club and a bow and arrow!!

But this is really silly because it’s just stars and you could join up the dots in any way you wanted

I have learnt to see beyond the wreck of the physical city to the incandescent life force of its inhabitants.

A city is only as thriving or as sickly as your place in it. Each Bombayite inhabits his own Bombay.

There are two kinds of people and organizations in the World : Eaters and Bakers. Eaters want a bigger slice of the existing pie. Eaters think, if they win, you lose and if you win they lose.

Bakers think that everyone can win with a bigger pie!

I was brought up to believe that human beings are good, which is why it shocks me to the core when I see human beings behaving badly.

"What would you do if you weren't afraid?"

In the early 1990’s psychologist K. Anders Ericsson and two colleagues conducted an experiment at Berlin’s “Academy of Music”.

Basically, the school’s violinists were divided into three groups: the stars, the “good” performers, and those who were unlikely to ever play professionally and would probably become music teachers. They were all asked the same question: “Over the course of the years, ever since you picked up a violin, how many hours have you practiced?”

All of the violinists had started playing at around age five, and they all played about two or three hours a week during the first few years.

However, around the age of eight, an important difference began to emerge in the amount of hours they each practiced. By age 20, the stars in the group had all totaled 10,000 hours of practice over the course of their lives; the “good” students had totaled 8,000 hours; and the future music teachers just over 4,000 hours.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning a lion wakes up.It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle.

When the sun comes up, you better start running.

-African proverb

I told no one the story of my life

It was something I had to spend;

I spent it.

A fox was walking through the forest when he saw a crow sitting on a tree branch with a fine piece of cheese in her beak. The fox wanted the cheese and decided he would be clever enough to outwit the bird.

"What a noble and gracious bird I see in the tree!" proclaimed the fox, "What exquisite beauty! What fair plumage! If her voice is as lovely as her beauty, she would no doubt be the jewel of all birds."     The crow was so flattered by all this talk that she opened her beak and gave a cry to show the fox her voice.

"Caw! Caw!" she cried, as the cheese dropped to the ground for the fox to grab.

There must be no majority decisions, but only responsible persons, and the word 'council' must be restored to its original meaning.

Surely every man will have advisers by his side, but the decision will be made by one man.
