We are delighted you are considering Briar Dene Childcare as a potential nursery for your little one.

Briar Dene is a bespoke independent day nursery, preschool and holiday club with the key aim to inspire young hearts and minds as your little ones take their first steps on their educational journey.

Established in 1955, Briar Dene has a rich heritage in Tarleton and the surrounding villages for providing a positive, fun and nurturing nursery environment.

We know what’s important to the people of our community and strive to retain the core values that Briar Dene has become known for, whilst evolving our first class service offer to meet every aspect of childcare need.

Our highly qualified nursery family are one of the things that makes our nursery so special – with our team creating fun learning activities, planned around your child’s personalities and interests to secure their foundation for future success.

Children receive a continuum of care right through from age 2 until they leave for school, with small learning groups allowing them to develop confidence, build positive relationships and grasp a real understanding of community and belonging.

We adopt the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ which covers the following areas on which observations and assessments are based on.

The seven areas of learning are:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development

• Communication and Language

• Physical Development

• Literacy

• Mathematics

• Understanding the World

• Expressive Arts and Design

A stimulating environment…

Briar Dene has first class facilities in a homely setting. Our outdoor area is unique and exciting with a range of year-round play facilities to keep children active, stimulated and busy.

We teach our little ones about the environment and promote explorative and natural play in our wonderful gardens so they understand and are part of their natural world.

Exploring our community….

We are proud to be part of our wonderful community here in West Lancashire so visits out are a key part of our learning and activity programme. Our little one’s love visiting Windmill Farm, a local swimming pool, parks and nature trails. Planned in advance, these popular sessions ensure everyone has the opportunity to explore and experience our community.

OurChildcareOffer

Briar Dene Childcare is open all day, everyday, throughout the week, 52 weeks a year: Monday to Friday 7.30am - 6.00pm.

We accommodate full time and part time places for children between 2 to 5 Years.

We offer Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) for all 3 and 4 year olds as well as FEEE available for 2 year olds subject to certain eligibility criteria.

Bespoke Holiday Club

Our popular ‘Holiday Club’ is open 8am-6pm out of term time for children aged 2-11 – available to all primary school children across our community.

Our club is all about creating lively, group orientated and individual games and activities including creative play, outings, imaginative and active sessions to keep you little ones fulfilled and happy in the holidays.

Placements are limited so get in touch as soon as you can to book your place at our various clubs throughout the year.

Information for Parents

Child Safety is our top priority - keeping your little ones in good health and safe at all times. We have best practice led policies and procedures; with our team following strict Ofsted guidelines on safeguarding children in all aspects of their care and learning.

Access to the nursery is carefully planned with a robust sign in and sign out process and all our staff are fully DBS checked, highly qualified and Paediatric First-Aid trained.

Positive Parent Partnerships

We use a communication platform ‘Famly’ allowing us to keep in touch with parents with daily updates, instant messaging and automatic reminders. This secure platform includes free parent access via your mobile or online – with our team sharing photos, videos, observations and reminders daily.

Car Park and Access

Fullwood Avenue is a private road in the heart of Tarleton. As such we ask for parents to respect our neighbours and not park cars down the avenue where possible. We can talk you through the best access to suit your needs.
