Make a mark using tailors chalk or an air erasable marker on the right side of your panel as directed in your pattern (1). Fuse the stabilizer to the wrong side of the panel, centred directly over top of the mark you made (2).

Take a washer for your magnetic snap and place it over the mark you made, lining up the mark with the centre of the washer. Draw lines in the two outer slots of the washer (3). Using your seam ripper or a small craft knife, make small cuts along the two outer lines you’ve drawn. Be careful not to cut your slits too long – the prongs of the magnetic snap should fit snugly through the slits.

Push the prongs of one half of your magnetic snap through the slits so the circular part of the magnetic snap is on the right side of your fabric, and the prongs are on the wrong side (4). Thread the washer onto the prongs and fold the prongs out to each side to secure this half of your magnetic snap in place (5). Repeat this process to attach the second half of your magnetic snap to your remaining panel.
