SAS Install SAS on a personal computer

Document Purpose This document demonstrates how to install SAS

1 Before installing SAS
1. Choose Start > Computer and double click on the C: drive 2. Create a folder called SAS 3. Download JBoss 4.2.0 and Java Development Kit 6 from the following links and save them in the C:\SAS
folder: a. JBoss 4.2.0: http://www.jboss.org/jbossas/downloads.html b. Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 34:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk6-downloads-1637591.html Accept the Licence Agreement and download for Windows x64
4. Right-click on the JBoss folder and choose the Extract All… option. Extract into the C:\SAS folder

5. Double-click on the Java Development Kit file, and install the application. Select Yes to any prompts
6. Click Next then Next. The installation will begin 7. When the installation has completed, click Finish. A web page will appear informing you how to
register the Java Development Kit. You do not need to register, so you can ignore this.
2 Use the SAS Installation Disks
1. Insert SAS Installation Disk 1 2. An AutoPlay window should appear. Select Run setup.exe
If AutoPlay does not appear, choose Start > Computer and double click on the DVD Drive. Select Yes for the prompt to run setup.exe

3. SAS deployment wizard windows should appear to be loading on screen. Select English, when prompted to choose a language, followed by OK. SAS will continue to load.
4. Click Next on the Specify Order Details page 5. Change the folder location to C:\SAS and press Start. This process may take a while to complete. 6. When prompted, insert Disk 2 and click OK 7. When prompted, insert Disk 3 and click OK 8. When the installation is complete, you will see the SAS Software Order Added page. Click Next
followed by Finish

3 Install SAS
1. Go to C:\SAS and double-click the setup file (the file type will be Application). Select Yes for the prompt to run setup.exe
2. SAS deployment wizard windows should appear to be loading on screen. Select English when prompted to choose a language, followed by OK. SAS will continue to load.
3. Select the Install SAS software option and click Next

4. Select the Perform a Planned Deployment option and uncheck Configure SAS software. Click Next
5. Select the Select a standard deployment plan option and choose the first option in the list: BI Server, One Machine, JBoss. Click Next
6. Choose the following products to install: a. SAS Foundation b. SAS Management console c. SAS Help Viewer for the Web d. SAS Drivers for JDBC
7. Click Next

8. Click Browse and locate the license file in the C:\SAS folder. Click Open
9. The license information should appear, click Next 10. Select Clear All and ensure only required languages are selected 11. Click Next then Next 12. To find the Java Development Kit, click Browse and locate
Computer>C:\Program Files\jdk1.6.0_34. Click Open
13. Click Next. If a prompt about the JDK version appears, click Yes

14. To find the JBoss Application Server 4.2.0, click Browse and locate Computer>C:\SAS\jboss4.2.0_GA\jboss4.2.0_GA. Click Open
15. Click Next 16. On the Deployment Summary, click Start to begin the installation
17. Once the installation is complete, click Next followed by Finish

18. Press Start, and SAS should be listed in All Programs
