Use the following procedure to install the FGW-1525/1525T: IMPORTANT General Precautions

1. Prepare the FGW-1525/1525T for transmitter installa-tion. (See page 4.)

2. Fasten the transmitter inside the FGW-1525/1525Thousing. (See page 6.)

3. Wire the transmitter to the FGW-1525/1525T.(See pages 7 through 26.)

4. Install the correct battery(ies). Important: Read allbattery precautions on pages 27 through 29.

5. Test the RF transmitter. (It is much easier to test, adjust, and if necessary, replace the transmitterbefore mounting the detector.)

6. Determine the optimum location for the detector/transmitter unit. (See pages 30 and 31.)

7. Temporarily mount the detector, then test it andmake any necessary adjustments. (See pages 36through 38.)

8. After determining the location is appropriate, perma-nently mount the detector. (See page 40.)

9. Re-test the detector and transmitter to ensure properoperation. (See page 36.)

1. Use ONLY the type of battery recommended by theRF transmitter manufacturer.

2. Double-check the wiring of the RF transmitter to theglassbreak detector BEFORE installing the battery(ies).

3. If anything (including a battery) gets HOT, dis-connect the battery(ies) immediately!a. Any battery that continues to heat itself is defec-

tive and should NOT be used.b. The most likely cause of hot transmitter com-

ponents is a reversed battery connection. (Theglassbreak detector is reverse polarity protected.)

c. The most likely cause of a hot battery is anunintentional short.

4. Carefully review all transmitter mounting restric-tions. For example, older technology transmittersmust be kept away from metal.

5. Review all Mounting Location guidelines to deter-mine the best location for both the RF transmitterand the glassbreak detector. (See pages 30 & 31.)

General Transmitter Fastening InstructionsFasten your transmitter to the inside of the rear hous-ing in the space next to the detector circuit board. Most transmitters are fastened inside the FGW-1525/1525T housing with hook and loop tape. This tapeensures a secure installation and simplifies mainte-nance. Note that due to size, certain transmittersmust be fastened with thinner, double-sided tape. The installation kit (1525-KIT) contains both hook andloop and double-sided tapes.

The recommended fastening method is specified ineach transmitter's wiring instructions. (See pages 7through 26).

Fasten transmitter with hook and loop tape asfollows:

1. If necessary, separate the hook and loop tapes.

2. On the hook tape, remove the protective paper toexpose the adhesive, then stick it to the back ofthe transmitter.

Note: Make sure the tape does not cover the antenna, test switch or components that are needed during testand routine maintenance.

3. Determine the best position to locate the transmitterinside the FGW-1525/1525T rear housing.

Important: Locate the transmitter as far from thedetector circuit board as possible. Locate the transmit-ter antenna as close to the outside edge of the hous-ing, and as far from the detector terminal strip, aspossible.

4. Remove the paper backing from the loop tape andstick it to the inside of the FGW-1525/1525T rear hous-ing. Position the loop tape so it will line-up with thetransmitter hook tape.

5. Until the final installation is done, press the hook andloop tapes loosely together to temporarily secure thetransmitter inside the FGW-1525/1525T.

General Transmitter Wiring InstructionsPages 8 through 26 provide wiring diagrams and instructionsto connect various RF transmitters to the FGW-1525/1525Tdetector. Also, make sure to review all instructions that camewith your transmitter. If the transmitter you want to install is notincluded in this manual or you experience problems, contactHoneywell at 800-645-7492. Before wiring your transmitter, review the following general wiring instructions:

2. Use at least 0.64 mm (22 AWG) for transmitter-detectorwiring.

3. Most transmitters use the "NO" connection. Some can useeither "NO" or "NC" Still others must be configured to one orthe other. (For some transmitters, using a "NC" connectionmay result in an unacceptable increase in power consump-tion.) Review the manufacturer's instructions for specifictransmitter requirements.

4. Use the transmitter manufacturer's manual for primaryinformation and specific details on the transmitter.

5. The low battery output is also a trouble output (Low Batt/Trbl). To determine if the condition is a low battery ortrouble the LED's must be enabled. If the red and greenLED's flash at the same time a low battery condition exists. If the red and green LED's flash alternately then there is atrouble condition which indicates a self test failure.

CAUTIONIf it is necessary to solder wires to the transmitter, use a grounded tip soldering tool to prevent dam-age to transmitter circuitry.

CAUTIONRemove batteries from transmitter and FGW-1525/1525Tbefore wiring.

1. Observe wire color coding:BLACK - Common; usually same potential as negative( - ) battery pole. Black wire is typically connected be-tween detector ( - ) terminal and either transmitter battery( - ) terminal or a negative-ground (COM) terminal.RED - Positive battery (+) pole. Red wire is typicallyconnected between detector (+) terminal and transmitterbattery (+) terminal. Important: For transmitters thatoperate on a single 1/2 AA battery or a full AA sizebattery, install dummy battery (included in 1525-KIT) andconnect Red wire to detector as specified in wiringdiagram.BROWN - Alarm signal. Brown wire is typically con-

nected between the detector alarm output (NO or NC) and transmitter alarm input (IN) terminal.
