General Guidelines

Installation Guide Entis XL Page 5

General Guidelines The suite of application modules making up the Entis XL system are provided on CD. The installation process is relatively simple and straightforward following the same procedures as almost all other Windows applications. If it is the first installation of Entis XL a reset may be required during the set-up process to update some of the system files before the installation can be completed. On very complex systems, particularly large multi-user client server systems the installation process may be more complex requiring a separate installation for the database and other operating system components. Further, systems requiring remote access via Remote Access Server and/or providing a Web server will require configuration and set-up by competent engineers conversant with Windows NT and related technologies.

Prerequisites For a proper and trouble free system to perform to specification there are a number of pre-requisites to a successful installation. Recognized Personal Computer properly installed with: • Windows NT 4.0 Workstation or Server. • Service packs 6.. Refer to the Release notes provided with your version of the

software for full details. • Internet Explorer 5.0 • PC links for Windows

Sufficient memory for the installation being performed must be available.

It is recommended that 256M RAM be fitted for most installations. Sufficient hard drive space to cater for uninterrupted service s required.
