Installation-Guide for Herzeg Novi

This guide helps you to install following Software – Cluster:

This software cluster is provided to you for educational purpose throughout SummerSchool

2005. Since the license will not be granted to you permanently, you are obliged to de-install

the software at the end of the SummerSchool. You are responsible for the de-installation and

you have to convince Sebastian of this process.

Step 1/6: Install the GIS Environment

Install MicrostationSE from CD#1. Chose the setup.exe from following path of this CD:

.\BCE2D_MicrostationSE\MSSE\ENGLISH\WINDOWS\disk01

Follow the instructions and accept all suggested settings. Hence, you install the software to

following path:

c:\win32app

Step 2/6: System Settings to use the Plug-in

To make use of the Plug-in, you must teach the GIS component that it exists and where it is

stored. Hence you must set two environment variable (german: Umgebungsvariablen). This is

done under

German : Start >> Einstellungen >> Systemsteuerung >> System

English : Start >> Settings >> System Control (?) >> System

In the Slider Extended you should find the environment variable (Umgebungsvariablen)

tag. Here you add two settings:

Step 3/6: Set folder for temporary data for Plug-In

The Plug-in processes writes temporary information and needs a folder to store it. The folder

name was specified in step 2. Generate this folder: Named bce_tmp under C:\ .

Step 4/6: Rename installed GIS Folders

Some folders of your MicroStation Installation need to be renamed. Following tables lists

their paths and names. The renaming always adds the appendix ‘…_old’!

Before Renaming: Path + Name After…

c:\win32app\ustation\wsmod …\ wsmod_old

c:\win32app\ustation\mdlapps …\mdlapps_old

c:\win32app\ustation\licence …\licence_old

c:\win32app\ustation\wsui\default …\ default_old

Step 5/6: Add the Plug-In to you GIS installation

Add the plug-in files from CD#1. You will find these files under

.\BCE2D_MicrostationSE\BCE_2D_install

Copy following components to their destinations:

wsmod c:\win32app\ustation\

mdlapps c:\win32app\ustation\

licence c:\win32app\ustation\

default (in folder: wsui) c:\win32app\ustation\wsui\

Finally, remove the write protection in folder c:\win32app for all its subfolders.

Step 6/6: Exercise Data Sets

Get CD#2. Provide a folder for your simulations on your hard drive, chose a short path, e.g.

C:\SummerSchool\

ata you find in the folder 2d_Modell_kelling_STUDENT on the CD. The your Copy the exercise d

folder should contain following data sets (approximately 59.5 MB).
