Aquastar proudly manufactures and assembles all of their products in the U.S. The Starztruck automatic pool cleaner works from the suction side of your pool filter - subject to the GPM (gallons per minute) of the suction line. For technical assistance, call Aquastar Pool Products at 877.768.2717.
There are seven connector hoses. The hose cuff on any of the hose sections connects to the top of the StarzTruck automatic pool cleaner (see Fig. 1).
ConnecttheStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleanerhosesectionstogetherbypushingandtwistingthetapered
maleconnectorendofeachhosefirmlyintotheopenfemaleendoftheadjacenthosesection(seeFig.2).
Dependingonthesizeandshapeofyourpool,allhosesectionsmightnotbeused.Thehoseshouldreach
fromtheskimmerorsafetyvacuumlockwallfitting(AquaStarp/nVLK15Txx)tothefurthestpointinthe
poolplusoneextrahosesection.Ifthehoseisnotlongenough,itwillbenecessarytopurchaseadditionalhose
sectionsfromyourpooldealer.Afterthecorrecthoselengthhasbeenassembled,fillthehosecompletelywith
waterbyloweringtheattachedStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleanerandthenverticallypushingthehosedown,
allowingalltheairtoescape.Whenthehoseisfull,removetheStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleanerfromthe
hoseandinserttheflowgaugeintotheleaderhose.Makesuretheflowgaugeisunderwater(seeFig.3).
Ifoptionalleafcanister(AquaStarp/nHWN152)ispurchased,installbetweenfirstandsecondhosesections
(seeFig.4).

CheckthewaterflowreadingontheFlowGauge(refertostep1,Fig.3).Theblackdiskshouldbeinthebox
betweenthe“MIN”and“MAX”markings.Ifthesettingishigherthanrequiredwiththeblackdiskoutside
oftheboxonthe“MAX”sideandyouhaveconnectedyourhosetotheskimmer,itwillbenecessaryto
reducethevacuum/waterflowbyusingavalveorvalvesinthefiltersystem,ortheAquaStarhwn161
RegulatorValveoranoptionalAquaStarAutomaticSkimmerVacuumPlatedesignedtoadjustvacuum/
waterflow.Toinstallthehwn161RegulatorValve,turnthefiltersystemoff.Removethehosefromthe
hwn152SkimmerCone,andafterclosingtheRegulatorValve(rotatethebluecollarclockwise/toward+
untilclosed/tight),inserttheRegulatorValveintotheSkimmerCone,andinsertthehoseendintothe
RegulatorValve(seeFig.5onpreviouspage).
Turnthefiltersystemonandallowittorunlongenoughtoeliminateanyairinthesystem.Turntheblue
collarcounterclockwiseuntiltheproperreadingappearsonthegauge.
IfyouhaveconnectedyourhosetotheAquaStarVacuumLock,itwillbenecessarytoadjustthevacuum/
waterflowusingthethree-wayvalveatthefiltersystem.Thehandleonthevalveshouldbeturnedsothat
theFlowGaugewhichisinstalledintheStarzTruckhosereadsproperly(refertoFig.3onpage2).Afterthe
three-wayvalvehasbeenproperlyadjusted,thevacuumgaugeatthethree-wayvalveshouldbemarked
sothatthewaterflowcanbeadjustedbyreferringtothegaugeatthevalveratherthanreinstallingthe
FlowGaugeinthehoseeachtimeanadjustmentisnecessary.OncetheFlowGaugehasaproperreading,
removeitfromtheleaderhoseandreattachtheStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleaner.SubmergetheStarzTruck
backintothepooluntilitreachesthebottomforoperation.
step 3: adjustinG Your starztruck automatic pool cleaner
Someskimmershaveavari-flowordivertervalveinthebottomoftheskimmer.Thisvalvecanbeturned
toregulateskimmingandmaindrainsuction.TurnthevalvetofullskimandthenadjusttheFlowGauge
vacuumgaugebyturningthevalvetowardmaindrainsuction.Usuallythisvalveisthesamesizeasthe
hoseend,anditwillthereforebenecessarytopurchaseanhwn158HoseConnector(seeFig.8).Afterthe
propergaugereadinghasbeenestablished,thedivertervalvewillhavetobelockedinplacewithawedge
ofsomekindsothatitwon’tchangepositionwithoperationoftheStarzTruck.
Periodicallycheckthewaterflow/vacuumtobesurethattheStarzTruckisoperatingasefficientlyas
possible.Remember,toomuchvacuumisjustasbadastoolittle.
PeriodicallychecktomakesurethattheStarzTruckhoseissecurelyattachedtoitssuctionsource
(i.e.Skimmer,SkimmerVacuumPlate,SafetyVacuumLock,etc.).
DisconnecttheStarzTruckhosefromtheskimmer/regulatorvalve,or,ifusingadedicatedline,turncleaner
valveoffbeforebackwashing,sothatyou’renotrestrictingwaterflow.
NevercoiltheStarzTruckhose.Damagecausedbycoilingthehoseisnotcoveredunderthewarranty.
WhentheStarzTruckisoutofthepool,alwaysdisconnecttheleaderhosefromtheStarzTruckhead.
AlwayscarrytheStarzTruckbythemolded-inhandle.Donotcarryitbythehose.
Whenswimminginthepool,removetheStarzTruckfromthewater.
Ifyouaregoingtosuper-chlorinate,shockoraddgaschlorinetoyourpool,makesurethecleanerandhose
areremovedbeforedoingso.

ifthereisatleasta12-inchradiuswherethefloormeetsthewalls.Becauseoftheinternalprogrammedgear
box,thecleanerwillnotclimbthewalleverytime.Likewise,itwillnotalwaysgoallthewayupthewall.
IftheStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleanerisnotstickingtothewall,settherearflaptopositionIII(seeFig.9)
and/oradjustyourregulatorvalve(s).Ifthecleanerclimbsabovethewaterlineandsucksair,settherearflap

6. Thiscleanerisintendedforaproperlydesignedandmaintainedswimmingpool.Thislimitedwarrantydoesnotcoverpoolsthathaveadefectivedesign,areimproperlymaintained,andareinappropriatefortheStarzTruckautomaticpoolcleaner’soperation.
7. Thislimitedwarrantydoesnotcoverdamageorinjuryfromimproperinstallation,pumprunningdry,damageduetolossofprimeorpluggedpipes.
8. Thislimitedwarrantydoesnotcoveranychangeinappearance,damage,malfunctionduetochemicalreactions,etc.
9. AquaStarisnotresponsibleforanylossoftime,inconvenienceoranyconsequentialexpensessuchastelephonecalls,labor,etc.,unlessrequiredbylaw.
10. Deterioration,discolorationorbrittlenessofpoolplasterandvinyllinerscanbecausedovertimeseparatelybyorincombinationwith,ageandanimbalanceinpoolwaterchemistry,improperinstallationandotherfactors.AquaStarherebydisclaimsanyandallclaims,andpurchaserreleasesAquaStarfromanyandallclaimsfordamagestoanypoolplasterorvinyllinerinpurchaser’spoolbyreasonoftheuseand/oroperationofthecleaner.
