GeneralThis function enables an external additional heater,e.g. anoil boiler, gas boiler or district heatingexchangerto aid with heating.

The indoor module controls a shunt valve and a circu-lation pump (GP10) via the accessory card in AXC 30.If the heat pump does notmanage to keep the correctsupply temperature (BT25), the addition starts. Whenthe boiler temperature of (BT52) has been increasedto about 55 °C, the indoor module transmits a signalto the shunt (QN11) to open from the addition. Theshunt (QN11) adjusts so the true supply temperaturecorresponds with the indoor module's theoretical cal-culated set point value. When the heating demanddrops sufficiently so the additional heat is no longerrequired the shunt (QN11) closes completely. Factoryset minimum run time holding the boiler prepared is12 hours (can be set in menu 5.3.2).

Pipe connectionsThe external circulation pump (GP10) is positioned ac-cording to the outline diagram.

Shunt valveThe shunt valve (QN11) is located on the flow line tothe climate system after the heat pump according tothe outline diagram.

AB

B

AConnect the flow line from theheatpump to the external heat sourcevia the T-pipe to port B on the shuntvalve (closes at reduced signal).Connect the flow line to the climatesystem from the shunt valve to thecommon port AB (always open)Connect the flow line from the external additionalheat to the shunt valve to port A (opens at increasedsignal).

Temperature sensorInstall the boiler sensor (BT52) in a suitable locationin the external addition.External supply temperature sensor (BT25, connectedin the indoor module's control module) must be in-stalled on the supply line to the radiators, after theshunt valve (QN11).

K

Install the temperature sensorswith cable tieswith theheat conductingpaste and aluminium tape. Then insu-late with supplied insulation tape.

NOTE

Sensor and communication cables must notbe placed near power cables.

GeneralThis function enables an external additional heater,e.g. an electric boiler, to aid with heating.

With the accessory card in AXC 30 a further three po-tential free relays can be used for addition control, which then gives max 3 linear or 7 binary steps.

The flow through the addition is ensured either by thecharge pump (GP12) or the external circulation pump(GP10).

Pipe connectionsTheextra circulationpump (GP10) is positionedaccord-ing to the outline diagram.

GeneralThis accessory function is usedwhenSMO40 is installedin houseswith up to four different climate systems thatrequire different flow line temperatures, for example,in cases where the house has both a radiator systemand an under floor heating system.

Caution

Underfloor heating systems are normally maxflow line temperature set between35and45°C.

Check themax temperature for your floorwithyour floor supplier.

Caution

If the roomsensor is used in a roomwithunderfloor heating it should only have an indicatoryfunction, not control of the roomtemperature.

Pipe connectionsGeneralWhen connecting extra climate systems, they must beconnected so that they have a lower working temper-ature than the climate system 1.

Circulation pumpThe extra circulation pump (GP20) is positioned in theextra climate systemaccording to the outline diagram.

Shunt valveThe mixing valve (QN25) is located on the flow lineafter the heat pump/indoor module, before the firstradiator in the climate system 1. The return line fromthe additional climate systemmust be connected tothe shunt valve and to the return line from the heatingsystem 1, see image and outline diagram.

Temporary lux (extra hot water)If an immersion heater is installed in the tank it can bepermitted to produce hot water, at the same time asthe heat pump prioritises heating.

Mixing valveA temperature sensor reads the temperature of theoutgoing hot water to the domestic hot water andadjusts the mixing valve from the water heater untilthe set temperature has been reached.

Hot water circulation (VVC)One pump can be controlled for the circulation of thehot water during selectable periods.

GeneralConnecting this accessory makes it possible to controlproduction of cooling.

The cooling system supplies cooling from the heatpump using a circulation pump (GP12) via a reversingvalve (QN12).

For the installation to work the cooling systemmustflow freely permanently, for example using a volumevessel for cooling.

Operating mode cooling is activated by the temperat-ure of the outdoor sensor (BT1) and any room temper-ature sensors (BT50), room units or separate roomsensors for cooling (BT74) (if two different rooms areto be heated respectively cooled at the same time forexample.)

When cooling is required, the cooling reversing valve(QN12) and the circulationpump (GP13) are activated.

Cooling production is regulated according to thecooling sensor (BT64) anda cooling set point value thatis determined by the selected cooling curve.

Cooling degree minutes are calculated in response tothe value on the external temperature sensor (BT64)for cooling out and the cooling set point value.

As an accessory, cooling reversing valve is required, e.g.VCC22/VCC28.

Pipe connectionsGeneralPipes and other cold surfaces must be insulated withdiffusion-proof material to prevent condensation.

Where the coolingdemand is high, fan convectorswithdrip trays and drain connection are needed.

Reversing valve, cooling/heatingThe reversing valve (QN12) is located in the system onthe supply line from the heat pump

Temperature sensor (BT64)

Connect the sensor to AA5-X2:19-20.

Temperature sensor (roomsensor for cooling, BT74)

Anextra temperature sensor (room sensor for cooling)canbe connected to SMO40 inorder to better determ-ine when it is time to switch between heating andcooling operation.

Connect the temperature sensor to one of the AUXinputs X6:7-19 on terminal block X6which are behindthe front hatch in SMO 40. The actual AUX input is se-lected in menu 5.4. Connect ground to terminal blockX6:GND. Use a 2 core cable of at least 0.5 mm2 cablearea.

Place the temperature sensor in a neutral position inthe room where the set temperature is required. It isimportant that the sensor is not obstructed frommeasuring the correct room temperature by beinglocated, for example, in a recess, between shelves, be-hind a curtain, above or close to a heat source, in adraft fromanexternal door or in direct sunlight. Closedradiator thermostats can also cause problems.

Room sensor (BT50)

To connect the roomsensor (BT50), see the Installationmanual for SMO 40.

External blocking (optional)

A contact can be connected to AA5-X2:21-22 to blockcooling operation. When the contact closes, coolingoperation is blocked.
