From time to time you may be called upon to add or remove memory modules. It could be a question of increasing the speed of the computer when you are running many programs at the same time. For the most part the optimal memory modules are fully compatible with DriverAssist and should cause no significant operational problems.

It is part of the upgrades that users typically go for when they feel that there is some additional functionality that they would like to access. The recommendation is that you enable the dual-channel mode in order to all for proper installation in the right slots.

The type of model will ultimately determine the amount of memory that is installed on the computer. Make sure that you read about the product before buying it.

The process begins by turning of the VAIO computer. You also need to detach the peripheral devices. Ensure that the power code is not connected. In order to be absolutely certain you should also remove the battery pack.

Give the computer time to cool down completely. Meanwhile, you can review the instruction manual or even any other user information that might be relevant to the task ahead. Typically, the inner parts will retain their heat even when you turn off, hence the need to make sure that they are completely cool before beginning.

The risk of working with hot parts is that you could easily get burnt. When you are satisfied that the computer is ready for action, lay a clean cloth on a flat surface. You should then place your computer on it. Make sure that you have removed all the screws with a slot screwdriver. This will give you access to the memory module compartment.

Getting rid of the old and adding the new

There are some models that work better with captive screws. Others will not allow you to detach the cover in order to prevent the risk of it getting lost as you work. There is no one set place for the location of the module since it varies according to the model. When working you may link the device to a metal object in order to discharge any residual static electricity.

However, you are strongly advised not to touch any metal parts within your computer as they could contain a strong enough charge to cause damage. Do a visual scan in order to ascertain whether there is a free slot. If it is there then that is what you must use. If not pull the latches in the direction that removes them. Carefully remove the module.

This is normally kept in an antistatic bag. You can hold the memory by its edge and then slide it into the allotted slot. The end terminal should be facing downward. Ensure that it aligns with the notch on the model whilst leaving a small projection in the slot. All the parts that you need are available for purchase and you can often use coupons as well. Return the lid and the computer will be ready for operation.
